Description
A project I worked on to get myself out of an art-rut recently. Combining two loves. Aliens, and rendering metal...chrome in particular.Eight hours of work. Sketched on paper, colored in photoshop.

-Giger owns the rights to the Necronom paintings that the design for the Alien was loosely based on.
20th Century Fox Film Corperation owns, without restriction, all legal rights to the Alien franchise, and anyone who wants to license anything related has to go through them. Dark Horse Comics has licensed limited publishing rights (i.e. comics, books) from Fox. Other companies have licensed the rights to toys, games, etc. But permission to do any of that comes from Fox.
Whatever rights Giger himself has to the Alien are those which he has by way of contract from Fox. IIRC he is allowed to create and sell certain types of Alien related artwork outside of the normal channels without recourse to 20th Century Fox. However, he does not own the copyrights to the franchise.

Jaxx, as always, you rock! As well as being very much xeno, I think I see some small hints of Rell in the construction of this one (aside from the material, obviously). And as someone else pointed out, it has something of Sorayama's chrome animals to it (the other thing he's famous for, aside from pr0n). I'd love to see a pic of this one and a reglar xeno sorta looking at each other, scoping each other out with a kinda "hmm, looks kinda familar.." look.

I love the details you put into the metal alien critter. You choose a really nice action pose to illustrate the critter. Good stuff.

Very sweet looking. Reminds me of that one alien bad guy in the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles cartoon, the original one. You know those little mosnters that grew on the pizzas. Nice chrome.

ah, the one renoun for her chrome affect does it yet again.. ><.. This is gorgeous. An intruiging piece of subject matter that few really try to pull off.. and especially in such a clean bit of detail as this shows. Its nice to see geiger-like-butnot stuff.
and the painterly effect in the textury strokes really appeals to me.. as I prefer real media to computer..

Great way to combine the familiar alien creature with metal, makes it look like an android. The pose sure have a lot of fluidity. Is it trampling through mud or something? Because that what it looks like.

A very excellent piece of work! That finger on its right hand is a bit too big, but it's still easy to really admire this.
The unseen foot looks like it's breaking through water, but the rest doesn't because the splashes are only aroung its ankle. And the continuation of that same texture up and around gives the impression that it's jumped into a swirling tunnel of liquid. A very sureal setting indeed.
And since it's "a combination of two loves" I'm sure you're pleased as punch to see it finished.

I think there was a cybernetic alien in the comics to.. I have a card of it giving a dog a ball o.o But it wasn't chrome.
