So stumbled across Blossom-Disneyaholic 's string of works involving fairytale characters' lives pre-fairytale, specifically she did designs of the mothers who were mostly neglected from the tellings of the stories. What can I say? I was inspired, her designs are really good---I just couldn't help drawing too. ^_^This one wasn't really the first one, though.
The first one was Cinderella's mom, which evolved into being of both her parents and is still not finished, but Snow White's parents came running in next! 
So I based the good Queen off of Olivia de Havilland as Maid Marian, and the King... well I'm not really sure where inspiration for him came from. lol But they turned out really well, if not a bit lopsided. 
I did another picture of them, in a more casual setting, which I'll put up eventually, and you can definitely see the Olivia de Havilland reference, but that's enough rambling on my part. ^_^ ENJOY!OH! One more thing---yes I know the queen's supposed to die in childbirth or something just as dramatic, but I decided that she either got to hold her baby for a painting before a tragic carriage ride or they did a majority of the painting before she actually had the baby and just added little Snow White in. ^_^

Just like you stumbled across my work, I stumble across yours. I had no idea my drawings inspired you. I take that as a compliment, thanks
I really like your design. You weren't afraid to try something new, while I wanted the Queen to have the same style as her daughter. (ribbon, puffy sleeves) And still there is some similarity (I notice the short hair-do) I really think that the crown and veil are beautiful!
I never gave much thought about how the King would look, so I don't know what to say about his design. I like it, though I am not sure about his face.
Btw, don't mind the "died at childbirth" thing, I think adding Snowwhite is a very nice touch! She looks adorable!

And since I had to study at least four semesters of Art History (I don't recommend that to anyone), I know that court painters often painted the royals without them being there, so the idea that their court painter had left enough room to add the baby in is actually close to a real situation
