Description 18x24 oil paint on gesso board.

Living in the United States you are forced to live with the fact that our current administration is encouraging other countries to hate us.. which may someday bring about a nuclear war.

In this painting the lantern and cups are uranium glass, symbolizing nuclear war. There are six stars which symbolize the United States and it's evil. The star that the women is drinking from is inverted. War is evil and as a part of a nation that is encouraging such unecessary wars you have no choice but to drink it's poison.

The dreadful, agressive facial expression is the best, and the beauty is always present.

So do I, and the symbolism within this painting is amazing too

I particularly like the subtleness of your work!! It has this "trojan horse" effect and that is exactly what will be part of your success. If you run around with a hammer hitting everyone on the eyes, those you want to reach will get turned off. And you don't need to convince someone who already shares your views. Your work is done in a way that attracts people and makes them curious... and their defences are down. The only way your message can get into their heads (and hearts).
I have lived in the US for a long time and to this day I argue with people here trying to make clear to them, that the US Government and the American people need to be viewed seperately... and that is the case in many countries on this great great planet

Yes, I love to work subtly so that I don't scare people away. My boyfriends Aunt and Uncle went to my art show recently and they were turned off. They asked if I was really depressed. Well, I would be if I didn't have the outlet of art to express myself. What do they want me to paint flowers and horses!.. Nothing against flowers and horses But, they are also very conservative republicans. booo. lol.
I too have spoken to many people especially those who don't live here and explain that the people disagree with the government for the most part. It's sad.

Thank You!

You catch more flys with honey than vinegar... roaches have to be dealt with a different way though hehe

You GO with the geo-politics! Did someone piss you off? Did his last name start with a B?

I am with you on the sad state of the USA.

When presidential candidates condone "by any means necessary" interrogation methods, and nuclear first strikes on countries that might attack us at some time in the future, these are dark days. Ann Coulter, just the other week said "we should stop worrying so much about civilian casualties." Statements like that piss off people who make big bucks making precision guided munitions, and depleted uranium bunkerbusting technology. They would say, that is Un-American!

As far as this piece goes, your symbology is very subtle. I would not know if there was a political message here or not without the explanation. The inverted (dare I say....SATANIC) star draws the eye and invites the viewer to ask questions. I believe as soon as you get someones brain turning, that is enough. But if you want to get your point across, you must be more agressive, and put those symbols on parade. This is just my observation. You certainly seem the subtle type, but you cannot expect your explanation to follow this piece around the world.

Yes Yes someone with a B did pis me off!! As he did many people.
That quote by Ann Coulter really pisses me off too. Such ignorance. It makes me so sick and sad.
I hate how 'we' can have nuclear weapons, but no one else can. Ignorance!!!!!!

I agree... The message in the piece is very subtle. Sometimes people ask about it and I'll say, "well, it's political, at least to me." I do want to explore making my political statements more prominent, but I've never been an in your face realist. I like making people think, and even allowing people to adapt their own meanings.

Cheers!

Being obscure has its own rewards, specifically, watching people try to figure it out. In high school, I took writers workshop and wrote totally bogus poetry, and let people critique it. It was very entertaining to watch people assign meaning where there was clearly none intended. I wrote the joke, and let others offer me punchlines for my amusement.

Greed and superficiality opposing need and humanity. What do we do, who knows, we are a mass biological machine of cells interacting, diseased and cancerous on this ere earth. Maybe the choice will not be ours to make. But we can still fight regardless.

Your work is fabulous and so very rich. But most of all i particularly like the messages behind your work.
