Pretty animal!

I used to feel nervous around spiders but somehow (she?) seems very calm and relaxed in this photo.

She certainly is. Most tarantulas are fairly placid, slow moving most of the time, but you always have to remember when handling them that all tarantulas carry venom, so you must always be aware to not make a movement that may be interpreted as a threat.
I think they are beautiful creatures.
