Description The red tailed ratsnake is an arboreal species. They are also known as the red tailed racer, and watching them traverse their treetop domain, it is easy to see why. I have seen these snakes (up to six feet in length with about a 1 inch diameter body) suspend themselves from a branch and, with half of their body in mid air, move freely in all directions in order to pass between separate branches/trees. Their muscle structure must be superb.

Thank you. I'd love to add one to the family, but they are quite aggressive. It would take time and effort to get it used to being handled. Maybe after uni.

A lot do, this species are quite active a lot of the time. Plus they make good subjects because they are so beautiful.
