Description Ma-a-a-an, that Star Fox Zero reveal yesterday, right? Friggin' amazing. I am so excited for that game.

Did this a few days ago and posted it to Twitter ( twitter.com/mattherms). I LOVED Star Fox on SNES and N64, but kinda' lost track of it after that. It's crazy to realize how long it's been since we've had a new Star Fox game! Really pumped for Zero and can't wait for it to come out later this year.

Hope you guys dig! This was illustrated on comic book board and colored in Photoshop 7.

Here's some other recent Nintendo fanart:

Star Fox is the first game to use the Super FX chip for a 3D effect.
Although, I am not really a fan of Star Fox, but I found the series to be interesting though.

If anyone or I havent said already, you ought to see if Archie could get Nintendo to allow em to do a Star Fox comic series, assuming you have a voice there to suggest. I'd honestly be interested if such a thing happened, as long as everyone I see here is in there, and even those in other titles, including that non canon comic that was made long ago.

Not a reboot kid, set in a different universe. Developers confirmed this not too long ago.

You mean like how Wind Waker took place at a different time from Majora's Mask, I agree?

Pretty much, but really thinking about it I really believe Zero's nothing more than another attempt to cash in on nostalgia that barely remains at this point. Even if they said that it's in it's own alternate universe from the original, it doesnt really help that it's once again trying to cash in on a base that barely remains.

To put it bluntly, almost no one wanted this, they wanted a sequel that many hoped would take place after Assault and screw Command over, or at least rewrite it so none of the stupid shit like the conflicted relationship between Fox and Krystal happens, and the sudden alienization of everyone occurs, by this I mean everyone was way out of character and in some cases felt regressed, the overall story made no sense either.

Some people wanted a prequel of James and crew before 64, at least to get to know Peppy more before James died, maybe even see Pigma before he backstabbed everyone. It's the same with me wanting to see them explore Krystals origins more as like Peppy, she has a backstory that didn't get explored, and that's something I dont like about almost anything I watch or read, like this awful comic I read where there was a instance where some unknown individual spots one of the main characters, and the comic tries to give hint to something that'll involve that character, but it never got into that, and it never will because the writers of that comic are incompetent and stated it'll never happen.

I believe it will, Miyamoto is a lot smarter than most gamers and creators give him credit for. I think they will change up the story a lot to make it a ton more darker compared to 64. I have faith in Miyamoto. Most Star Fox fans actually did not want a sequel to Assault because of how it was awkwardly controlled. Gyro controls are optional and I bet there will be local multiplayer at least. I think the character designs look great; it looks like fun; the Titania level looks fantastic to me but I would not be surprised if they port it to the NX. There will be more planets compared to Starfox: 64. Splatoon was a cash in the shooter series and look how well that turned out. So do not give up your hopes. Star Wars Battlefront looks way more cash in than Zero, at least Miyamoto cares about the games he created, he had to sacrifice the graphics. That takes guts.

Yeah, that's what they say. But if the gameplay starts on Corneria, ends on venom and you're fighting a giant disembodied head (of a Monkey), I'm call 'semantics.' (and a Reboot)

ThatDementedBastard In reply to SkipperWing [2015-07-14 00:19:26 +0000 UTC]

The deluded argument that it's a reboot regardless of the official confirmation that it isnt and set in a different universe, I never realized how stupid the Star Fox fanbase could be. Grant you it's said that supposedly the SNES game was retconned, but if that really were true, then it was justifiable because it was done in such a short time, and the game felt too much like a tech demo as many will admit it's not as good as it was back then.

13-18 years of progress is not worth throwing out the window because of some petty shit, that'd be like if they did the same thing with Metroid with the amount of sequels it had, and even the remake Zero Mission while was a vastly superior game to the original nes incarnate, it didnt actually retcon it.

Regardless, Nintendo doesnt retcon, remove, or kill anyone off. Just dont delude yourself to thinking it is just because it takes place in the same storyline as it did before, Metroid Zero Mission did the same thing here as SFZero seems to be doing, but it didnt do anything to the main canon. It's basically an attempt to try to cash in on nostalgia...again...and that totally worked...

SkipperWing In reply to ThatDementedBastard [2015-07-14 01:28:29 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I'm sorry, its a "retelling of the original story, but updated for the current generation of technology, with elements not present in the original, with no intention to carrying on the original storyline." but sure, its not a "reboot" (but easily applicable to Star Fox 64 ..or Star Fox 0). Β Then again, by your "impeccable" logic (That's sarcasm, btw), Star Trek 9 isn't a reboot of the Star Trek franchise because it takes place in an alternate timeline. Β Nor is Super Mario Galaxy 2(which pretty much ignores the events of the first game; unless Mario and company are suddenly 100 years older to catch the next star festival). Β I mean sure, Rosalina/the Lumas literally rebooted the universe at the end of the first game, but yeah, no, Super Mario Galaxy 2 isn't a "reboot."

Β Remember that castle Mario doesn't own anymore from Super Mario Land 2? Or how the Mario Bros used to be from Brooklyn (the cartoons and supplementary media) before we found out a stork dumped them on Yoshi (twice!). Β Or how Ocarina of Time was the origin of the relationship between Link, Zelda and Ganon -I mean, "Ganondorf," before we found out Skyward Sword was the origin of the relationship between Link, Zeld-I mean, Hylia, and Ganondo-I mean, "Demise?" Β But yeah, Nintendo doesn't retcon, remove or kill anyone off (except Geno, or Mallo because good luck getting Square Enix to make another Super Mario RPG, or Andross after Star Fox: Dinosaur Planet, most of the Mario+Luigi villains, or Ganon after LoZ windWaker, unless he's somehow still alive after being impaled in the head, petrified in stone and drowned for good measure.) Again, Sarcasm, if you didn't catch that.

And no, Zero Mission isn't a reboot; it doesn't contradict any of the games that come after it, nor does it appear to have designs to.

Here's the thing:Β In games, its okay to do reboots (See Tomb Raider, and the upcoming Ratchet and Clank movie/game) because the plot doesn't have to carry the experience; the gameplay does. Β What does it matter if its a reboot, as long as its good? Β And if this isn't a reboot, what are the odds Dinosaur Planet, Krystal, or the Aparoids are going to appear again? Pretty slim unless there's a gameplay reason.

Lastly, please don't demean your intellgence (or give me, or anyone else unfortunate enough to debate with you, reasons to regret offering you the benefit of doubt) by resorting to insulting mine. Β Argue your point with what you know (for a fact and can prove) and/or can research. Β If its solid, its solid, and whoever you're chatting up will concede (if they're neither an idiot or a jackass). If not, and you have to result to tantrums, it kinda makes you look like an idiot. Β

I'll rephrase, Zero isnt a reboot like Zero Mission, but unlike the Metroid fans that know and understand it's merely just a retelling of the NES' story, a good portion of idiots in the Star Fox fanbase keep yelling and sperging reboot, even though it was made clear it isnt and is on the same lines as Zero Mission that some even delude themselves to thinking they're lying.

My point is the Star Fox fanbase is retarded compared to most other fanbases of Nintendo franchises.
