Raritys death I think was the worst I think. The rest died quickly or lived on somehow. She was wasted away in front of her own eyes and her last act was to save Fluttershy. She was generous to the last.

Well she did keep a single piece for herself so probably when she died that piece went to wherever Pony's go when they die. The others are trapped in soul jars. The Black Book probably had a way of releasing the souls fragments and putting them back into the original body or even bones essentially recreating Rarity but the Bones are now gone as is the book.

All true, but we don't know the books contents completely. There probably was a counter for everything in it. Plus from what we see of healing potions and magic in general its entirely possible to resurrect someone with it. Heck, if you use Horizons as a base, you can transfer the souls trapped in the soul jars into a cloned body and not need the original body or bones.
I kind of like the idea of recreating theΒ original Mane 6 and forcing them to see what there actions caused.

...well Fluttershy is still alive, and lived through 200 years of being a tree. I think that is more than punishment enough.

Oh true that, and she was truly broken by it. And she deserves it I think and much worse. She is the reason the world was destroyed by Balefire after all after she gave the spell to the Zebra's. It might have been good intentions, but the road is paved with those. But the others all had there own sins to pay for as well.
Twilight had the Alicorns though being part of the Goddess and not having a body to return to after the Goddess died put paid to her debts.
RD seemed the most innocent as she was in the end a warfighter and created the SPP Towers.
Pinkie Pie pretty much was the Gestapo and though police rolled into one. Lots of Pony's died at her orders.
Applejack created newer and deadlier weapons of war, and used her influence to create family controlled companys that profited on the war effort. And she survived the war to an old age in a Stable.
Rarity is the real one that suffered as much as she did damage. She created propaganda that propped up Luna's government and kept the war popular and fed the warmachine with new bodys for the gears of the war, but she also experimented on herself in a attempt to bring her friends together again as they slipped apart. And in the end, she barely had a soul left for herself as the rest was inside the statuettes and she died in agony in the ruins of Canterlot. Kind of think she paid for her part in the war as well.
The real question would be what would have happened if one of them had quit? Would that have made the rest question there places in the war? Give them the courage to quit themselves?

PoetBrony In reply to Sturmlion1 [2015-10-13 14:16:38 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. The part I don't agree with is Fluttershy deserving more punishment because, if you think about it, every second she is alive, she is being reminded that it is her essentially fault that the wasteland even exists. Also, all her old friends are dead, she has a stone Angel on her mantlepeice, and her mind is forever haunted by her 200-plus years as a tree. I think that is plenty punishment enough.
I agree with everything else.

Sturmlion1 In reply to PoetBrony [2015-10-13 14:51:15 +0000 UTC]
True, I would guess all the dead, destroyed city's across her homeland, complete breakdown of societys across the planet, Treason against her government, and the deaths of her friends and there rulers (some in agony) can be made up by being a tree for 200 years and having a stone rabbit paperweight. From the end of the story though, she was mentally pretty broken and took a lot of time to become mentally stable again. While I don't think she has really paid enough for her failures, she has paid enough I guess.
The one who I always felt sorry for was Rarity. It was like she played both sides of the coin and came up a failure both ways and she died in agony.

PoetBrony In reply to Sturmlion1 [2015-10-14 15:54:01 +0000 UTC]
I agree with that. Rarity did what she could to help everyone, causing herself pain no matter what she did, for even though she seems vain, when it comes to helping others, she can care surprisingly little about her own health and/or personal beliefs. Yeah, even though she also did things to help the war effort, creating propaganda and such, she did not deserve to slowly die like that, saving a friend at the cost of a torturous death.

And if you look at it, she had the opportunity to save herself but threw it away to save Fluttershy. She was capable of teleporting (I'm guessing at some point Twilight taught her) Fluttershy away and did so but had top block the Pink Cloud out first. She could have saved herself but instead chose to save Fluttershy.
Honestly, the scene from Horizons with Goldenblood and a dying Rarity actually brought a tear to my eye.

Oh God not this scene!
It really is something that our heroes played a part in the apocalypse more or less, but they still managed to be the ponies we've grown to love . . . if only at the end for some of them.
And it's both funny and heartwarming that Littlepip herself almost becomes kind of a brony in how she comes to know and admire the Mane Six.

Chapter 37: "With a bang, the second set of mahogany doors at the front of the meeting room slammed open as a white unicorn burst into the room. Her gorgeous purple mane and tail looked frazzled, and a beautiful saddle-purse hung next to the three diamonds of her cutie mark."
If she was wearing anything besides the saddle-purse, I do not know of it.

AND THEN WE'LL GET TO DASH AND GET NO CLOSURE AT ALL.
