Description Is my cat the most darling and wonderful creature on planet earth, or is that just the toxoplasmosis talking? Probably both.

This is why, ifΒ I ever get the chance to take over the world, I will use cats.

They are powerful weapons. But difficult to control.

Definitely plays into my theory that cats secrete some form of chemical toxin that poisons their owners' brains and makes them think their cats are actually cute.Β  Because cats ain't cute.Β  Seriously, not cute.Β  Kittens?Β  Kittens are freakin' adorable.Β  But no grown cats are cute.Β

As a matter of fact, cats carry the toxoplasmosis parasite which can be transmitted to humans through cat poop. The parasite's aim is to get into another cat via a small rodent -- humans get infected accidentally and are a dead end for the parasite. But when small rodents are infected, they become unafraid of cats. Not dogs or other predators, mind you -- JUST cats. Making them easy prey for cats, allowing the parasite to find a new cat host where it can reproduce. So some people speculate that the toxoplasmosis parasite has a similar brain-controlling affect on human hosts, making them particularly fond of cats. I mean, it would explain a lot.

I totally buy this.Β  I strongly dislike cats.Β  I don't hate them, exactly, and I respect them for what they are: nocturnal predators who are good at eating small animals.Β  But lovable, cuddly companions for humans they are not.Β  I've obviously not been infected ... yet.

Case in point: my brother owns two cats, and one of them has severe cat diabetes and a bunch of other serious health issues.Β  He's gone into serious debt to seek medical assistance for these cats.Β  This concept is ... just beyond my comprehension.

It's like a scifi movie where everyone gets taken over by mind-controlling parasites and you're one of the last uninfected people left. Except it's literally true, that's actually what's happening. Join us, Gecko! You won't regret it. Everything is better with cat parasites.
