Description Finally I'm done with this. Been taking too long with it. Rough drawings were marinating in my sketchbook for about a year now lol. Supposed to have drawn in the vehicle mode in the background but I'll leave that as something separate for now. Now for a try at a bit of the story to go along with the pic.

==========================

The "Phase Phoenix" is a prototype "Armored Mechanical System". Only a few were built. The first prototype was larger but not much is known about it since it mysteriously vanished and the other prototypes are thought to be destroyed by sabotage.

The Phase Phoenix includes an ability known as "phasing". Phasing creates a field that causes any matter within it to vibrate at a particular frequency. This vibration is so intense that it can cause matter to shift in and out of this dimension. Phase tech is unpredictable and can have unexpected results.

The Phase Phoenix is also capable of (ridiculously) separating into 4 smaller flying vehicles; 2 main ships that are piloted and 2 independent drones that have an artificial intelligence system built in to assist the two pilots.

The pair of pilots are some of the last remaining members of an organization called the "Galactic Hounds"(?). At its prime, the Galactic Hounds were filled with mercenaries and treasure hunters from around the galaxy.

Dude, this is amazin'! Love the mech and character designs :3
What's your technique for your mech drawings? Do you model them fully in 3D and then finish with photoshop?

Thanks! Well usually I just draw them in photoshop like this one. But my most recent stuff have been modeled in 3D.

I noticed that you mentioned using Sketchup to model your Jorogumo... that's incredible. I'm still having trouble modelling basic weapons with that program >.<

I'm sure you will get the hang of it if you use it more. I recommend watching tutorials on Youtube if you haven't already. For me, I still need to learn alot of things too.

Whoa, this could do good to my robot-ridden shelves if it was released as a model kit! Great job both on mecha and the characters.

I'm always amazed with your ways of coloring, its really like a 3d cell shading

Thanks Rekkou. Actually I was having a hard time with colors (as usual heh). I was about to go nuts but good thing I recently figured out that locking empty pixels helped ease my pains.

wow,its been a while since you posted something, a retro style musou robot warrior, and the chicks, looks like it just came out for a novel game, looks freakin awesome, i really like how you use beastly design for the mech. even thou when the mech has some joints that could really look like it will snap, but in a way, the designs look really artistic. even for a wide machine, it looks really agile by looking at the way the arm bends and the length of the limbs, very facinating.

The chicks look frickin well designed too, so retro RPG element in there, futuristic elves? very clever, i am really intrigue by their design, ive seen this style before from some novel games i cant recall, you capture the element and style really well. Great work

Hey! Heh I was imagining about 2d sidescrolling shooters and isometric S-RPG games and the possibity of combining both genres in one when I started drawing this mech and the characters.

But I'm curious about this novel game that you mentioned. Please let me know if you remember it! I would like to check it out myself.

Anyways thanks Frost for your detailed feedback.

i think its BALDR Force if i got it right, and i saw plenty more games like that too i couldnt remember because i saw it on Arcadia magazine. and the tittle is in japanese. it has a game system like a turn based RPG game from the top like a strategy game, as you accomplished your missions, a picture of a character will turn up and there will be discussions and storyline between the characters, you can also pick what to say that will decide the storyline.

Ah BALDR Force! I got the Dreamcast copy but played it once a long time ago. Its collecting dust now. I might hook up my DC and play it now.
