Description H, HB, 2B & 4B graphite pencils and a Q-Tip.

My brother Ian. He is almost 16 years old and has Down Syndrome. I enjoyed drawing his portrait because there is beauty even in his non-typical face. And there is an innocent soul looking out of his eyes.

Edit: This is the updated scan. It captures the nuances of the original work much more faithfully than the first scan.

Beautiful job, I volunteer at Friendship group which is a Bible study for handicapped adults. A few people who attend have Down Syndrome and they're some of the friendliest people I've met. They can always put a smile on my face no matter what mood I'm in.

This is so great! I love it My cousin has Down Syndrome too, he's 6 years old... I've always thought they are the sweetest and kindest people ever.

My brother bruce has Down syndrome aswell, he wondered why i hugged him after seeing this portrait, which is a big thing because I have Aspergers and DON'T like hugs,
bruce on the other LOVES Hugs so he was OVER THE MOON when i hugged him

A work like this that is able to transcend physical and emotional barriers is a Blessing indeed
