Im a medical student, third year. I completed my Medical Genetics Course and I wanted to thank you for helping raise awareness about people with Down Syndrome. They are also people and they have feelings and can feel just as happy and loved as the rest of us humans. We are all special in our own way and all of us thrive in the same nurturing environment of love and family.
And strangely enough, this work somewhat reminds me of ancient Roman and Greek philosophers. Maybe it's because of the message your work carries. An innocent soul is the greatest treasure.
Give a hug to your brother for me, even though he doesn't need it. Your work proves that he is a very loved member of your family. I wish more people are like you.

I also have a special needs sibling (my sister has a chromosome abnormality called 18q-, along with autism). I've really been wanting to do a portrait of her, but I just haven't gotten around to it. This really inspires me to get going on it!

Also, he has such soulful eyes; almost like he's looking at something in a completely different way than others around him... like he sees the glory and magic in the things we sometimes miss out on because we're too busy or wound up in our hectic little worlds. I only wish I could see things like he does, like so called "disabled" people do. It sickens me that society passes them over as "different" or, as it so nauseates me to even think of, "stupid," when in reality, these people are far wiser than we'll ever be.

This picture is by far one of the most deserving pictures that has ever received a DD. Truly an exceptional choice for a DD. Kudos to you for this beautiful drawing and kudos to wdwparksgal for featuring it. I'd love to see more pictures like this featured.

I have a Down Syndrome sister. Her name is Joylynn, She's 16 also but she's 17 this year. She actually my older sister but she looks up at me as her older sister. Shes one year older than me. She gets on my nerves some times but still I love her.
