Happy Birthday Silky! Your art has been a great source of inspiration for me, and your commitment to helping others develop their art and characters is clear. This is kind of a preview for the story I am developing, because tablets would be a great way for the characters to communicate, either by voice to text or direct video link. More on this soon, I just wanted to show what it would be like with a Happy Birthday message.
The background took me awhile to develop, as I wasn't really sure about how to show trees in the distance. It's kind of important for making nice scenery, so I'm working on getting better at it. I am also working at making better grass by increasing the spacing and angle jitter on the brushes for it. I'd appreciate advice on tree/nature backgrounds if anyone has some tips to share. Overall, I'm kind of pleased with how the sky came out this time.
As for drawing Silky, I am gaining experience at drawing fursonas. This was the first time I tried color shading, and I'm glad that it seemed to work. Also, if anyone has advice for developing color shading skills, that would be appreciated. I'm trying to get the subjects of my drawings not to contrast too much with the backgrounds, and I think that color shading will help in this regard.

but yes yes for sure keep using color shading! It makes things much much better, and it works best when it matches the environment. ouo
(like, green shading would be best for a green background. It gets more detailed than this, but that's the basics. xD )

I'm glad you like it! Tablets just seemed like such a convenient way to communicate- I have plans for some more scenes using them. And if you want to use the same idea in your works, please feel free. I think they should be like thought or voice activated, possibly with paw input.
I tried green and some purple color shading in this one, but I suppose I could have tried a variety of green shades. Thanks for the pointer.
I tried a lot of different tree brushes on the mountains and then made one myself. I think I might have done a few filters, but it was mostly a variety of brushes in earth tones to generate the mountain effects.
