I like this especially the background and lighting, it does look like a watercolour painting! The rain has a nice soft effect (I'm useless at painting rain, must give it a try soon)
I think one thing you could do is make the fur look a little wet, however I'm not actually entirely sure how to do that myself to be honest!
anyway looks great, keep it up!

For painting rain, I've found two methods I like. One is the repeated long angled strokes as I draw each rain streak in nearly a straight line, often given a generic blur at the end. More recently, I dotted my canvas with many circles of varying sizes on a single layer. They were all close to white, and I set pen pressure to control size for the variance. Then, I used motion blur (a photoshop cs4 feature) to blur them along a near vertical path in this picture.
I suppose I could have shaded it darker or in clumps of fur to show the wet aspect. Thanks for your comment!

Wow, i love the background in this! it looks almost like watercolour, and the bright rocks give it a boost of brighter colour. I really like the effect of the rain too, it creates a soft feel and isn't overly. Your anatomy has definitely improved from when I first looked at your art, it's coming along well!
I would say, with the shading on the fox compared to the background, would you ever consider going with a more soft shade? True, his fur would be wet, but with the shading you could make the darkness slightly more ridged and not as uniform. And also, just a thought but have you ever considered using coloured shading? It looks great with the dark outline but if you ever want the fox to not stick out as much you should try it!
Great work though, you keep improving more and more!

This is one of the most detailed comments I've received. I used a number of Photoshop CS4 filters, including watercolor. I neglected to use the ridges in shading fur, and I think that may have been related to using such a hard shading technique. It does seem reasonable that the shading would be varied or ridged and not a uniform line as I've depicted. I've experimented with color shading in the past, but I didn't think to use it here.
Thank you! Comments like yours are one of the most rewarding things about improvement.
