Description This piece is one of my most recent, the start of a new series called "Home", where the work deals with the conflicts of my life, how to make art, hold down a job, have a house, and do all the things that women are supposed to do (marry and have kids).
It was once said by a wise teacher of mine, that "Marrying is like flushing your art down the toilet. You will only make things after that that will pay the bills." So here is the first of two completed pieces that deal with my conflicts of life versus art, which is the pomegranate as the source of life, signifying the female capacity to reproduce. In the rind of the pomegranate is a quote from Romeo and Juliet that refers to Juliet telling Romeo to stay longer, it is not yet day. The piece has traditionally painted glass borders, with a contemporary twist, and features all sorts of glass, from new to old, hand blown to manufactured. It is for sale from the artist, at [link]

It's wonderful to see original stained glass design and not just book patterns.
