Description This piece is currently in the Sharon Arts Center in Peterborough, New Hampshire. The SAC is a high-end gallery that serves the southern New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont regions. The panel is approximately 22 x 24, and has a mix of handblown and manufactured glasses. This style of window is a combination of my love of flowers, especially lotuses and waterlilies, with my mother's undulation background style that was used as abstract work a few years ago. The panel has many blues and purples with some aqua and turquoise to set the backdrop for a magenta lotus flowing downstream.

I just got a look at your site, your work is very interesting, I have always wondered more about mosaic and lamination, which I assume is what fly free is...Are you in art school, did you learn this on your own? I never got a chance to work in mosaic when I was in italy learning there, but I certainly would have if I was given more time. I have concentrated on traditional stained glass, copper foil and leading, but also traditional style painting and I am working now in some fusing and a new form of pate de verre called fritography. I was a stained glass college professor for three years, and so I am always curious about what people are doing within the discipline with glass. I would love to know more about the process and inspiration of your work. If you are interested, you can also check out my gallery at [link] and I think you have been talking with one of my students here on this site, she is jjosryo. Thanks for the comment, your work is great!

I love talking art. It is a very new passion for me. I found it around age 35 by taking classes at our local art center in Des Moines. I took a class in mosaics and never looked back. I am still working on developing my style and only been doing it a year. It was like finding a part of me that was missing my whole life.Working to define myself as an artist now and next step for me is also working with fusing and casting. Also want to do more sculptural things with cement! There is a real great site that has an amazing community of stained glassers and mosaicists if interested it is [link] very open and encouraging community, have learned much there. It seems like a natural fit for stained glass people to also do mosaics with scrap. Although I love to upcycle stained glass scrap I get from the artists I have only done copper foil but want to do more eventually. I am really into mixing media from different techniques and currently doing experiements with wire wrapping and mosaics.

Whew that was a mouthful! Any questions at all, happy to answer!

Yes, that was a lot, sorry! I understand about the missing part, I got through one semester of marine biology and decided I wanted fun and to not be cold, wet and smelling like fish. I have no problem making them in glass! It sounds like you really like doing the work you do, and certainly recycling is awesome! I keep tons of scrap the basement...too much sometimes. It seems like you have gotten very far in a year, congrats, keep going. I will keep watching, and if you want to know anything about copper foil or leading just let me know, I would be happy to share info, seeing as I taught for years.
