Description Blender Models, rendered in Cycles.

A selection of my modelling of the original Shawcraft prop Daleks from classic Doctor Who. Technically these are all the same prop, but with various changes, repairwork, and whatnot between the serial causing them to look somewhat different. Starting from the left: The all-terrain Dalek from The Dalek Invasion of Earth (also known as the Mark II), the original Dalek from The Daleks serial (also known as the Mark I), and the Dalek from the Chase (also known as the Mark III). Not in order because I wanted to show the power dish on the back of the Mark II. And finally a Dalek from later in the original series, still technically a Mark III according to the experts (of which I am not one), as at this point the props were not doing so well and there were a *lot* of differences from scene to scene let alone from serial to serial as the prop masters were desperately trying to keep them intact and were swapping parts back and forth. However, these original Shawcraft-produced props seemed to hold up much better than the others that the BBC tried to fill the ranks with. And despite being 'simpler' than the Daleks from the modern series, there's something about the sleeker design.

Technically these Blender models are ready for animation. The guns 'fire' with those strange looking leaves flickering in and out, and the eyestalks have working irises that operate the same way the original props did. The paintjobs are a bit more modern, being fleck car paint just because I could, which is probably why there's firefly artifacts all over the place that I couldn't quite eliminate. Oh, and I did a weirdness for the Mark IIIb prop because I could. The illuminated part is actually the iris blades, the pupil is actually the black inside of the eyeball. Basically inverted from the earlier eyes. Not something that they actually did, but it struck me funny and I can think of a couple of ways it *could* be done now in RL with a fair bit of effort.
