Description From the Resolution of the Daleks episode, also known as the Reconnaissance Dalek, or the Sheffield Dalek. This took more effort than it should have. First, there was a version update in Blender that changed my workflow from when I built all the others. my master file with all the Dalek construction tools became corrupted, and oddly enough I couldn't find any good design plans for this thing even on Project Dalek ( www.projectdalek.co.uk/mainsit…). So this is entirely by eyeball and measuring pictures, which is not my strong suit. The rust texture painting proved to be a problem, as Blender kept dropping the 'image file' for some reason, this version is not the best one I did, but I got fed up redoing it. Plus, I was kind hoping for more unique daleks from the newer series, so I could have more than just this one for the render. I can't really fault the current showrunner from dialing back the presence of the Daleks in the show, however, as overexposure is a real thing that burns people out on the monsters.

The prop itself is interesting, as it's completely remote controlled, unlike all previous 'physical' props which has a pilot inside. Not sure how I feel about that honestly, as remote puppetry is perfectly valid but I wonder about the loss of having an operator seeing from the Dalek's own perspective. The dome lights are raked back, giving them a more ear-like position, than the 'bug-eye' position they normally occupy. It's slightly taller than a 'normal' bronze Dalek, though not as tall as a 'New Paradigm' Dalek, with a skirt that seems not quite as deep, reminding me of the Necros/Imperial Dalek redesign where they ended up taller there too. And the 'shoulders' on up is set further forward on the skirt than normal, reminding me of the New Paradigm hunch.
