PERSONALITY & CHARACTER
Personality and mannerisms:During her childhood and adolescent years, she was a jolly, funny and naughty rascal. She was extroverted and very expressive, always looking for new challenges and adventures. She had so much confidence that she that nothing could stop her. With her rich fanatasy, she lived so much in her own world that she didn’t realize what problems her family and the other siderians around here were facing. She just accepted this as normal without further questions.
However, as she reached adulthood, she began to see what was really going on and more importantly, why. She is quite sensitive at the core and all the siderian suffering that she saw as she grew up, was touching her emotions deeply. Her response was to harden and become brutally agressive. With her confidence and persistence, she became a bitter cold fighter who never gave up. After the deaths of several loved ones, she became dead-serious and her once so jolly and positive spirit was gone. Her assertive personality made her a good leader and she had quite a strategic mind. However, as the battle raged on and on, she become even more possessed by hatred and acted increasingly reckless, violent and chaotic.
Type of humor: in her childhood and adolescent years, she was quite goofy, jolly and quite naughty – downright mischievous, especially with her friend ( and distant cousin) Winther. She liked to troll other cubs and even adults. Later in life she became dead-serious and lost her sense of humor.
Voice, manner of speaking: a rather soft femine voice with a little low undertone and a rough edge; a bit of a crack. She used to be rather talkative when she was younger but became bitter and cold later in life which changed her way of speaking to short, direct and hard.
Sexuality: heterosexual. She’s not so osccupied with sex but may have tried a few times before she found her permanent mate.
Spirituality and philosophy: Her philosophy/motto is to never give up and fight until the bitter end. She’s not so occupied with spirituality because of all the turbulence in her life, but she strongly feels the spiritual connection with her ancestors and the significance of that for her own course in life.
Fears: Same as her father but she doesn’t have the independence complex as much a he has. She’s afraid that humans take over all siderian lands and drive them to extinction.
Dreams: a world without humans. If she could, she would have wanted to redo her childhood and live the life of a normal siderian. Later in life, she has only one goal…not really her ‘dream’ but all she wants is to avenge her sister and father.
Interest, hobbies, occupation: As a youngster, she was very explorative and very interested in the circle of life and how seasons and weather affected Life. Somehow she found ice and water very interesting. However, as she grew up, she got more involved in the activities of the Fjordland Force (a organized group of siderians who try to fight against invading humans), led by her father. Together with her sister Siri, she first participated in preparing and planning missions and later she got a role as patroller and reporter during smaller missions. As she grew stronger and more fanatic, she got a position in the frontlines and fought alongside her father and sister in the Vanguard. In those years, she learned every in- and -out of the Fjordland Force and she was entitled several leading roles, depending on the mission and the group conformations.
When her father, the General of the Fjordland Force, unexpectedly died during a scouting mission, Ekster took over the position as General, once she was recovered from her own injuries. She led the Force for many years after the death her father. She had to avenge him and her deceased sister and all she wanted was to get rid of every human that tried to return to the Fjordlands or the lands beyond.
Special skills: her peristance and her charisma brought her far.
STORY
First turbulent years
Ekster was born in turbulent times when her parents were travelling to the Northern Fjordlands to establish on a new territory. Her parents had just met, in a metacluster faraway but had decided to settle in her father’s homeland; the Fjordlands. Her father Stian was planning battles against humans that were a growing threat to siderians. Many siderians supported his course and he was gathering forces. Ekster’s mother Vivanna took most of the parenting responsibilities while Stian was organizing the first missions in the North. Ekster was too young to remember the birth of her brother Jay when she was one year old. Neither did she remember how her father had struggled for life after humans had shot him on his own territory.
Nauthty little rascal
All that Ekster remembered of her childhood, was a lot of moving and many siderians around. Her family never stayed long in the same place and they often travelled together with other siderians, mostly relatives. She didn’t see her father often, but when he came back from his missions, she used to run over him in happiness. She did the same with her grandfather Morten , with whom she was quite close. When Ekster was four years old, she got another sister named Siri . She played a bit with her rather shy younger brother Jay and she quickly made friends with other cubs. One of them was Winther , the daughter of her father’s cousin Yava . Together they were the two naughty little rascals and neither of them had much of an idea about what their parents were really doing. Despite the regular travelling and the occasional sight of badly injured siderians or the news that someone had died during the missions, she had a rather happy, careless childhood. She hardly realized how unusual it was that she could meet so many of her familymembers and that even her distant relatives and ancestors had joined the battles.
Humans made her grandpaw suffer
Her blissful ignorance to the suffering changed when her favorite grandfather Morten barely made it back from a mission, when Ekster was 6 years old. She had already heard about humans as the reason for the missions but now she connected the dots and saw what a threat they were to siderians. Her grandpaw didn’t recover and he no longer joined the missions. Ekster liked being with him while her father was away and they spoke more about the human-caused suffering. Morten left the travelling family when Ekster was 7 years old. Two years later, her father paused his usual missions and took Ekster and a few more family members on a trip back to the lands that Ekster learned, were the Ancient lands of the Sætansen Dynasty. The reason for the travel was to say farewell to Morten, who passed away when Ekster was 9 years old. Shortly after, her fourth brother Morthian was born, who was named after their grandpaw.
Motivated to join the Force
A year later, Stian’s now well established Fjordland Force picked up the missions again and travelled around the Fjordlands and Lakelands to attack several human settlements. Ekster was still spending most of her time with her mother, her siblings and with friends like Winther. The bond with her sister Siri was growing stronger as she reached puberty and the two became inseparable. They engaged actively in the Fjordland Force activities and after the human attack on the siderian metacluster* MistFjord, they got both extra motivated to join the Vanguard once they were old enough. Only now, she fully realized what it meant for her to be the daughter of the Fjordland Force’s General and she wanted to learn every detail about the missions. She also eagerly joined the several months long journey to another metacluster when she was around 13 years old even when that meant being separated from her best friend Winther.
Growing bitterness
Ekster was still her usual jolly, naughty and highly spirited self but after her great-grandpaw Matthias got shot and passed away shortly after, a bitterness inside her began to grow. She was 19 years old now and had already joined several scouting missions. She and her sister Siri attended every meeting that their father organized and the insight in the human-caused conflict made her increasingly angry. Now she realized why her father was often so icecold, hard and exhausted. So many siderians suffered or got needlessly murdered by these invading apes that showed no tolerance to any other animals. She wondered what her childhood would have been without the human threat. Her father would have had a lot more time for her. That realization hurt, since she was quite daddy’s girl and loved the rare times together with him. Her best friend Winther and her brother Falco had left the Fjordlands to help safeguard Winther’s mate Kieran’s homelands: the Balkan area (I’m still not sure how siderians call this area). Without her best friends, she could focus all her energy on following in her father’s footsteps and fight for the siderian’s right to live.
Meeting her mate Morev
The Fjordland Force was still growing in numbers since many siderians had fled from the Lowlands (Denmark, North Germany, Netherlands) to the Fjordlands after their lands had been taken by humans or after family/friends had been shot or poisoned. The fall of the major siderian metacluster Zilval Summits in the Roaring Mountains (the Alps) drove many more siderians to the North and many joined the Fjordland Force to fight for safety. One of them was Morehvan Sommarel (often just called Morev); a large male from the Roaring Mountains. Ekster quickly got an interest in him and after having fought side to side with him, that interest got mutual. Now that the Force was growing and siderians were gaining ground, her father changed the strategy. Before, they worked in stealth, mostly attacking human infrastructure and resources to undermine their society without leaving traces. Only rarely did the missions end up in an open confrontation. However, as the humans learned about the siderian’s organization and tried to attack them, it was time to confront them more with brute force. Siderian ecal-based weapons and strategy had also developed a lot over time and the missions got increasingly brutal as they finally managed to stop the human invasion.
Death and suffering turned her bitterness into hate
Ekster (now 27) had achieved a leading role in the Vanguard but the birth of her first cub Stigr pulled the brake on her activities. She shared the parenting duty with Morev and she remained involved in coordination of missions. And just like her own parents always did, she brought her cub along as the camps were moving. The strict patrols kept the Headquarters safe for cubs as well as elders and injured siderians. A year after the birth of her second cub Crystellar, the Force was preparing to attack the biggest human settlement in the entire Fjordlands. It was the biggest, most violent mission ever done so far. Ekster and her sister Siri fought bravely in the Vanguard and the mission was deemed successful. However it had taken a terrible toll… Ekster’s dear sister Siri had not made it back alive. Neither did Siri’s mate and they left their three years old daughter behind. Many more siderians had died and despite the success, the survivors needed time to recover and mourn. Siri’s daughter, Tiba, was adopted by Ekster’s mother Vivanna for the time being. Siri’s death killed the last bit of Ekster’s jolly spirit; it made her cold and bitter. From now on, she had only one thing in mind; to exterminate these apes that had killed her sister and stolen her childhood. The return of her best friend Winther and her family cheered her up and brought her some excitement but it was only short-lasting. She had to focus on the missions rather than her friendship.
She continued with some scouting and scanning missions in the North. It was only a false feeling of safety now that most humans had left the lands. Those few remaining were still deadly dangerous and had to be eliminated. That danger was real; Ekster’s father was shot through a weak point in his armor, during a small scouting mission which she hadn’t joined. Heavy blood loss made his situation critical, but he recovered and continued some of the activities at a lower pace. Ekster was now as determined as her father to safeguard the Northern Fjordlands and finally they seemed to have succeeded, giving siderians more time to enjoy life on their family territories.
False feeling of safety
Ekster’s youngest brother Morthian and his mate Mineuh had also gotten a little daughter named Rose. Ekster’s third cub named Havik was born shortly after Rose and also Siri’s orphaned daughter Tiba was embraced with love from the Sætansen family that had settled in the North, around Stian’s Headquarter. The peace hardly lasted more than a year before humans tried to claim some of the villages back and Ekster joined her father on the side missions to smother the returning humans before they would become a serious threat again. They carried out several scouting missions with a small section of the Fjordland Force while the rest of the siderians had moved back to their own territories and were finally enjoying the safety and freedom that they had fought for all these years.
Scarred for life
Ekster joined a scouting- and investigation mission led by her father to an abandoned industry area near the first village that he ever attacked. The area was desolate and could serve as a hiding place to intercept humans that tried to return to the ruins of their village. They spread out to their positions and kept in contact through ecal communicators that they carried with them. A distant sound that reminded Ekster of gunshots alarmed her. Only a few seconds later, her father warned the others (through remote ecal communicators) that there were armed humans around and that he was changing position. Human presence was unexpected but they had plenty of backup strategies to deal with this sudden threat. Ekster worked in the section next to her father and tried to locate the humans. Several more gunshots came from her father’s area and he had not yet send an update on the situation in his section. Something was wrong. She hurried towards the sounds that had not yet ceased. Adrenaline rushed through her veins as she searched for any sign of her father from the high floors of a ruined factory building. In the far distance, she spotted her father lying motionlessly on the ground, surrounded by a few human bodies and a lot of blood. He was without armor. Her own heartbeat nearly deafened her as she tried to figure what had happened. Another human with a gun walked towards her father who still didn’t move. Her thoughts froze when she saw that he tried to lift his head to face the approaching human. Without further thinking, she spurted away. Rage blinded her as she raced through the building. Another, much closer gunshot deafened her ears and she accelerated even more. She darted across the streets to meet the human that stood next to her father with full force. She smashed the human’s skull with one blow. In the same moment, another loud bang made her head explode. Human screams were followed by several gunshots and intense pain spread through her body from several directions. She continued fighting with the approaching humans until the noise died out and the chaos calmed. She collapsed next to her father and struggled to breathe. Only now, she saw the bloody bullet holes on her father’s motionless body and she dragged herself closer to him in the hope that he was still alive. His body was still warm but he was no longer breathing. Other siderians appeared from the mist as it started snowing. The pain blurred her vision and she failed to keep her head up. Only faintly, she registered other siderians dragging her and her father away before she passed out.
Sorrow and rage after the General’s death
When she came back to her senses again, she realized how injured she was. Half her face felt ripped off, her legs hurt badly and half of her chest was so damaged that she could hardly breathe. Her mate Morev was with her but she could not rest before she had seen her father. He couldn’t be dead but the look on Morev’s face told her that he was gone... He told her what had happened and that her father’s body was brought back to the camp so that other siderians could pay their last tribute to their fallen General. Sorrow and rage overshadowed her own pain and she raised herself up to go and see him. In the days after, other members of the Force had arrived as well and the atmosphere was dark and heavy. Torosky (known as Toro) Stian’s most loyal friend who had been there from the start, had taken over the position as General for now and he continued the way Stian would have wanted it. The lust for vengeance drove her on her paws again and after she recovered from her injuries, she engaged fanatically in the battles. So fanatically that other siderians considered her as the most suitable General. Stian’s elder brother Goran was still around and was getting closer to Ekster’s side, counselling her together with Toro.
Ekter at the lead
The Fjordland Force successfully drove the few remaining humans away from the Fjordlands and Lakelands (Scandinavia) and several other siderian fighting forces had now emerged in other places of the world, some more successful than others. She offered support to the forces that claimed the ancient cluster Zilval Summits back and even in the Lowlands, siderians were slowly gaining ground. She had also helped safeguarding the Balkan area; the home lands of her best friend’s mate Kieran. Ekster felt proud of what she had achieved by following in her father’s tracks, but her counselors constantly advised her not to become blinded by revenge and take too many risks. But the hate drove her mad and led the Fjordland Force into rampaging every human village that tried to build up again. Resistance against her reckless course was growing and even her own children were disappointed by her lack of time for her family. Only when her own mother Vivanna passed away of old age, she took a brief break from her activities.
Risky strategies
Many siderians from the Lowlands were inspired by her brutal approach and the Legend of her father, that the Fjordland Force was still growing in numbers and strength. Despite the risks that she took, her uncle Goran stayed at her side with his wise advice and still joined every mission. One mission in the South of the Lakelands turned out much more violent than expected. Humans threw explosives around and if it wasn’t for Goran jumping in front of her, she would probably not have been General anymore. He took most of the blow on his armor but this took a lot of his old body. Fortunately none of them was dangerously injured but it made Goran realize that he was too old to participate and a few years after this incident, he left to spend his last years in peace. His leaving made Ekster feel a lot more vulnerable. Only now, she realized how much she relied on her uncle’s counselling. Her other counselor Toro retired not long after Goran and the weight of all the responsibility was heavy on her. However, new recruits like Rose’s (Ekster’s niece) daughter Bynkah were giving her new hope. Also Siri’s daughter fought bravely at her side and it delighted Ekster to see that many of her missions were successful.
Blinded by hatred
But her hatred was not gone. Humans were still spawning everywhere and giving more resistance. Despite Ekster’s success, a growing despair was gaining strength over her. Still, many siderians had lost their lives and it pained her to see how often the healers of the Force had to wash off blood of the fallen ones. It made her even more fanatic than she already was. She had dramatically increased the efficiency of the Force’s missions by recruiting most patrols into the fighting groups and by setting out scouting missions immediately after moving to a new location. This risky strategy had caused resistance even from close supporters like her best friend Winther who still stood by her side. When Winther’s brother Torstein got unexpectedly shot very close to the basecamp, the consequences of her risky strategy hit her hard. This was the closest family death that she had experienced so far under her lead. The responsibility felt like jaws enclosing her neck. She suppressed her sorrow and insecurity by turning more aggressive yet she tried to learn from this situation.
Despite some disagreement about Ekster’s violent, reckless approach, many siderians still supported her and deemed it necessary in order to fight the human threat. Especially Rose’s daughter Bynkah, who was now an adolescent was equally fanatic and aggressive as Ekster. When humans tried to get claim their once biggest settlement in the Fjordlands back, Ekster’s hatred drove her to greater risks than that she had ever taken before. This was the place where her sister had died and she was determined to take her revenge by killing every single human herself. Against all advice of her current counsellors, she ran straight to heart of the battle. A storm of gunshots, human screams, crushing skulls and blood swirled around her followed by flashes and pain. Her battle raged on and on, fueled by her venom of hatred for man. Like her father, she would never ever give up and fight until she was engulfed by blackness.
When the blackness faded away, she was unable to move and could hardly breathe. The familiar siderians from the healing department accompanied her. Faintly she recognized the faces of her own children and her friend Winther but she was too weak to get up and struggled against the pressing tiredness and constant pain. As the days passed, the pain faded and a calmness covered her like her father’s soft white fur.

*Metaclusters: are places where crystallized underground pathways come together and where large metaphysical crystals reach the surface. Siderians made use of them as energy sources to build their own communication and energy network around these crystal clusters. The population density around metaclusters is usually much higher than elsewhere and they have more facilities (places where they come together to teach each other, give medical care or trade)- although it’s often really small scaled compared to human settlements.
