Thanks Sister I improvised a ton of this ( not sure I'm great at that but I need to try ,it's good for me !)...have you ever done that where you had an old idea that you already tried but weren't satisfied and wanted to have another go ?

oh hope, i've that happen more often than not! i've got sketchbook full of that kind of stuff. i try to think of it as the idea evolving. i have several works that are totally ripoffs from things i've done before!

i improvise paintings all the time, but rarely drawings.
what was the precursor of this idea?

this drawing called 'engine room" ,which is still in my gallery, was the inspiration for the new one ...I just wasn't satisfied with it as a whole,you know ?
I'd been having some "writer's block" and that led to revisiting some older things...and I know that songwriters do that stuff all the time, rescuing old bits and re-appropriating them ...and so nothing wrong with us doing that too !
I am completely envious of how prolific you are with the painting lately, it's completely inspiring ( and I really,really like them as well) !

I always love your analysis LB Yes, there was some deliberate sadness and melancholy put in there.Was thinking about this man, doing the same thing every day,for someone else, and just being a hidden cog in a larger machine....and maybe not questioning his situation,just accepting it. Hope that doesn't sound too "deep" and pretentious.It makes me sad too !
