Well, the BP is a part of Howrse, where you can enter colored coats. If accepted, you get paid in some vitual money. I assumed that was included in something that we'd be paid for?

I play Howrse too. I don't care if my lines are used for the BP, but I do want to see what you do with them. I don't care if it earns you a couple passes.
I just don't want them used for anything that makes real money, because that's just plain not fair.
For instance if someone colored the lines and sold a dozen prints and made like $50 I'd be pretty upset, because if you think about it, I did most of the work, and I got nothing out of it.
A pass on Howrse is worth about a dollar or $1.50. If you can make it into the BP, more power to you. Getting enough people to use the coat so you get a pass is an achievement in and of itself.
Using the lines to fill someone's commission or for those blasted point adopts would irritate the snot out of me too.
Other than that, go for it. They're fine to use for BP or your own enjoyment. Just don't try to sell any prints.

I highly doubt I am good enough for prints yet anyways, lol. And when I am, it will be with my own lineart, so that the whole piece is mine. Like you said, there is more achievement.
Howrse's BP has changed though. Now players must vote for the coats, and only 80 or so get in each month. But you get paid all your passes right off (there is a set limit, 40 being the most).
