Description Dedicated to the beautiful and talented ~Alicelefay for her s

also an entry to s Dream Contest:
[link]

When I made this, the man was originally transparent - in other words, a ghost - and the title was All by My Lonesome. But then I thought... they just looked too good together What I've tried to convey is... well, the dream of love. Dream, because with the piano in the background, it gives a sense of un-realness (that's not even a word, is it?) and the music, calm lake, starry sky, and the man's expression, soft and with a smile on his lips, helping the shy girl stepping down. Things you wish for, dream of, that doesn't happen in real life. The title indicate that they're alone in the world, lost in this dream, which is what I had in mind when I chose this size, so that it focused on the nature as well as the models.

....and that description was entirely for the contest - which btw is my first on Da *hides* - as I normally leave the interpretion up to the viewers...

------------------------
I just love it when the stock is perfect. The background here, for example. I briefed through 3-4 pages on sxc, found this image, pasted it into Photoshop behind the models - and WHAM! Perfect, without even moving it an inch right or left. Even the stones were right - it does look like the female is stepping off a stone, doesn't it? I didn't think of that until I saw how easy it would be to add a few small touches to make it look just right.

And what's with the few stocks of grand pianos out there? I went through sxc.hu and yotophoto (which basically is the same thing, since it searches through several free stock sites at once) and I couldn't find any from a good angle. Originally, I wanted a black one, but I just thought I'd play out the color when I finally found the stock.

I think it's the Christmas food talking. I'll shut up now.

I'm so happy you like it... I got inspired by your wonderful stock; something about the pose made me think "hiding from the world", "careful", "quiet", "lost in own thoughts". And when I started the girl was supposed to be alone, surrounded only by her dreams. But I guess I just caught up and it developed from loneliness to something else, which I didn't even realize before I had to describe it.

what to say? I NEED LOVE!!! eh eh... a sweet love, a dark man if possible ( ), a silent secret hidden place to dance over the music of a sweet, romantic piano... eh...

Beautiful scene you put together Its lovely how the whole landscape fit together, the colour also matches pretty well. Is the piano meant to be a different colour? because it attracts alot of attention, its the first thing I noticed. Otherwise, the female and male look adorable together, but maybe make the female's leg's darker? because it sort of.. sticks out, if you know what I mean.
I normally use a soft eraser tool to make it blend in more, but you probably have better techniques of blending. Just a suggestion. Keep it up

Thanks for the constructive comment ^^

I'll take a look at the things you mentioned - I was in a rush because the contest deadline went out at midnight - it got extended, though, right after I posted my entry

Yes, I wanted to piano to be in the middle of the pic, drawing the mood and being in contrast to the area around - I'm not sure how others see the effect, heh.

Um, no, my techique consists of using the soft brush for pretty much everything - blending, erasing, smudging, brushing I'm a disaster with the pen tool and too lazy for more complicated methods.

Aha, it was for a contest. well you can use that extended time now
when you put the piano there, I thought it was there to symbolise something, like.. maybe the couple's relationship, or even the mood as you said.
Good to know someone else uses soft brush.. I felt like.. a loser for a minute there

Hehe... no, we're just practical With some practice it works just fine. I'm actually writing a tut on it at the moment. "The underestimated soft brush and manips" XD

This is very pretty! And I love what you are trying to convey here in your description. You did a fantastic job here (it's so cute...!) and I especially like the piano in the middle of the lake there. Nice work!
