Another piece of video game fanart for an obscure game I came across on YouTube and now wish I played when I was younger (along with a few others I have planned to draw ) - The Neverhood, a point and click game with a claymation aesthetic (over TWO TONS of clay were used in the making of the game ) made by the same creative team that made Earthworm Jim and shares a lot of the zany and weird comedy that series has (there's a song in the game about a guy loving potatoes, tomatoes and peas in gravy and shoving them down his trousers and dancing for example - www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKbJLC… - and that's probably the LEAST odd thing in the game. ) Here's Klaymen, the main character, pondering a bird he's come across in the uninhabited Neverhood (I really love the stature and the curious expressions he has. )

The game itself involves Klaymen wandering around the wonderous but desolate land of the Neverhood, and the whole thing actually plays out like an affectionate parody of the Bible's Story of Creation (but a lot of the backstory of the Neverhood is present in an infamously HUGE corridor in the game that takes MINUTES to walk down ). Sadly, the game came out as the point and click adventure game genre was losing popularity, and it underperformed in sales despite positive reviews - but as well as picking a big Japanese and Polish fanbase, it did manage to get a sequel, Skullmonkeys, a platformer that plays similarly to Earthworm Jim but is apparently MUCH harder due to some tough level design.
