Awesome. I think may have already liked this on FB, but regardless, still cool.

The only thing photo-wise that's bugging me is that is seems unbalanced because of the way the blades hangs off the edge of the photo.

I see what you're saying. I think Ideally I would have taken something looking at least somewhat down the blade, more along the lines with my "Legacy of Crecy I" shot. But I still want the hilt to be the focus, which wasn't the case with that one. Perhaps if I had a better wide angle lens it could handle a hilt-focus without having to exclude the blade.

Regardless, it still looks good. And the focus on the hilt is great.

I saw this on Albion's Facebook page, must say I like it, the books make for a perfect old time background as do the aged hilt components. How did you age the hilt of your sword?

Woah, small world. I actually got it that way directly from Albion. It was the only Crecy they had in stock at the time so I went for it. I know Ablion Europe will do it for an added price but I don't know that Albion US normally does. I know Brian at DBK (where I eventually want to have a scabbard done for it) will do aging, though if you want to have something done professionally.
But while I haven't done it myself, from what I gather the treatment involves coating the hilt in some sort of acid. You can find a pretty good description of the process here: [link]

*sigh* Such a lovely sword. Great shot and set-up too. The atmosphere of the picture is great. Feels like a dusty old library, especially with those books in there.

Thanks! Of the three I submitted this is the one Albion picked as their contest winner. Probably because it showcases the details of the sword the best of all of them, and would work better as a computer background.
The books were a pretty recent buy as well. Best rummage sale find ever.
Glad you liked it!

You're welcome! I must admit, I was excited for you when I heard you won, so I can imagine how excited you must have been.
