Description
This illustrates his color differences. He can change at will. Much like an octopus, he has the unique ability to alter the pigment of his skin. While he can't change to extraordinary colors and neons, he can illustrate his mood appropriately.His bright coloration is also an indication that he is indeed venomous.

[link] this is shinerai right now, right? Yea, that was posted in 2009. That was the first ref going back to Shinerai's regular form after he Copied Laz's Lasarians body structure, which were always the same since 2000. You can even see it in Shin's own timeline: [link]
The influence of Laz's designs are Prominant in how the design changed so drastically when they became friends. Believe me, I was on the nikos paintchat channel when she was teaching shin how to draw a Lasarian. a month later, shin changed to a lasarian. It was a big change from shin's normal look.

lol, I see no resemblance besides the fact that they both have some orange in them sometimes. Especially because any character of any color could be shinerai since he changes form and color at will. But then again, to people with no imagination, I bet dragons and wyverns are the same thing. I'm sure that shins long back legs are exactly like Kai's short back legs. Please feel free to write a comprehensive comparison for me, because I am really sick of the shinerai comments ^^
Funny how no one said the original pic of kai looked like Shin. The only difference between them is that he has shorter back legs, a roached back, and a less ornamental tail.

nice job with these i really like the idea of color changes according to mood quite an interesting idea i also like teh vibrance of the colors on the alarmed/excited moods you can certainly see the colors of bright and excited
