Official reference of Malukai.Forgot to upload this like what? a year now? I apologize to everyone who was commissioned to draw him. I meant to upload this a long time ago.
He is NOT a dragon. He is a rainforest wyvern species of mine known as a Daru.
If you were commissioned to draw him, this is his Current ref sheet.
He is one of the many Evolutionary splits from the original and main Daru species.
Like the main species, young are born within the waters and rivers nearest to their habitat. Young are born with gills instead of lungs, and slowly develop them as they grow.
Kai, pictured above, is one of the rare feather winged Daru, Most boast a membrane that stretches from the long finger up the inner arm to the body.
Daru can not fly, but they are capable of catching enough air between branches to be considered decent gliders.
Unlike many of the Darus, Kai's subspecies has the large ears associated with the original Daru. While they cannot close when they dive in water, the shape is still very similar.
Kai was one of the first Daru to bring a Cave dwelling Daru into the light.
Cave dweller ref coming some time in the future, I'm feeling too lazy to color it right now XD
But at any rate, they are completely blind. some have no eyes at all, while others have up to four eyes that can not see, but function as great sensors for light and dark. They only have membrane wings, and most have lost their ears during evolution. Exchanging their bulky ears for sensory pits that pick up electrical signal.
The Water dwelling daru have evolved towards great swimming ability (ref coming as soon as I fee like coloring one, lol )
The newer look is much smoother and ba;anced in my opinion,m and I'm really happy I did it ^^
As you can see, he's been massively simplified from his original reference sheet. Now that I finally found and uploaded this crappy image, I can start to upload the other work I've done of him.

He's absolutely gorgeous! I love the hues and overall design. He looks very soft and cuddly <:3 His story and the creation behind him sounds very interesting. I hope you post more of him! ^^
Sorry to hear about the Shin stuff :< Having been a watch of both you and Shin for a few years, really, to me, the only thing I see a possible similarity is the color. That's it. I don't get what people are saying this is a shin, the anatomy, ears, structure is all different, but meh..some people don't really see.

Now this. This is what a fanatic wyvern artist like me enjoys seeing. This is something "Different" from the usual "Classic" dragon forms. Sure it's a wyvern, but anything beats the old fashioned gryphon-style ones. You keep up the good work, ya hear?

I think he's absolutely gorgeous, bebe <3 I especially love how he changes colors according to his mood (I can see him flashing really bright if you pop out from around the corner and yell BOO!!)

To be honest, the only similarity I see between him and shinerai is that they're both orange. And even still, Kai is more orange-y and yellow-y and Shin is more red-y. This spite-full person kinda hurts my feelings implying that I copied you but, alas, what can ya do c:

;__; aww, thanks Shinβ₯ He's kind of based on a veiled chameleon. Back when I first created him, I had seen this amazing sunburst orange chameleon, and it was just... zomg it was so fabulous.

and awww, I'm sorry sweety ;__; It's really really unfair that you keep getting drawn into these sorts of dramas. I really feel bad defending myself against them, because I love you, and you don't deserve to be drawn out every time a rogue fan decides to make an ass of themselves. But ignoring them didn't make the comments stop, so lately I've been letting them know I don't appreciate it.
and no worries, I know he and shin never looked alike, and still don't ^^ I'm sorry if anything my watchers or friends said made you feel bad. They don't seem to understand that by defending me, they did the same thing to you :C I hope that was not their intention...
But no matter what, We both know you're a sweetheart *hugz* (I also asked her particularly, not to do such things in the future, so hopefully that helps.) It's events like this, be it my fans, yours, or someone else's that make me feel like I can't be close friends with everyone in the dragon community .__.

Oh man <3 Chameleons DO come in some pretty sexy colors. XD And for some reason, orange looks really good on lizards. There's a particular Red Eyed Enigma leopard gecko on a website that I liked. It's color was the exact same as a cheeto, I swear. I demanded that if I ever got it, I'd name it Chittle. XD!!! like the cheeto residue on your fingers.
But no, please don't be sorry to me. In all my heart, I know you don't copy from me and I'm sure you know I don't copy from you (because I'm certain you would tell me if you felt that way), so there is no problem C: And I understand people wanting to defend their friends, so I'm not too offended. I'm just honestly sorry that you have to go through as much shit as you do just because your character is orange.
I totally understand the fans thing since I hang around kilara a lot (and she has it ten times worse than us. . . ) so ugh. Just don't let anyone's fans make you think the rest of us love you less c:

i love how you can see the feathers on the tail, slightly transparent and all. your wyvern just explodes with an exotic look, i really want to see more pictures of him ^_^

He's very exotic, which will be better illustrated with more images I have of him.
and since he is one of the endangered wyvern species, it will be limited to very few people to make, since each one would be cannon in this world.

Its an interesting take on wyverns though. I've always considered them just another type of dragon... like a different physical morph. can he fly with those little wingarms?

lol, since he lives in a rainforest, he's more built for gliding between branches and gripping with his handpaws/ prehensile tail. But what is also not shown are the folded flight feathers, which are hidden, and extend during a glide.
In his world, the difference between dragons and wyverns are the difference between the predator and the prey ^^
on a side note, if you licked him, I bet he would taste good XD

oke, the only reason why people make comparison with Shinerai all the time is because of his/her popularity.
How often do you see comments that compare someone that is less popular? (rhetorical question)
I've seen a few dragons here that have had features of less popular artist's dragons and NO ONE made a comparison there.
And that dragon was pretty much a recolor of the original character, but nothing..
People make comparison over popular things, take avatar for example. When avatar came every damn fan started to see avatar in everything >>
That's my therory at least...
I hope my point got through here, I'm not good at explaining stuff and especially not in english ;(

I think the only connection to Shin I even made were the blue pawpads, but that's on a lot of creatures too so I guess that doesn't really even count as a connection x:
FAIL people who say this is a Shinerai clone. FAIL. They make a connection with colors and possibly the body type and it's like "ZOMGZ, SHINERAI CLONE!!!11ONE"

The odd part is that Kai embodies the exact opposite of shin's body structure, from legs to spinal cord and skull. I'm still odded out by this comparison people keep coming up with.

That would start a LOT more drama, because everyone worships shin, not to mention there is no need to call out shin just because her fans are bringing her into this.

in his current form he has blue smoke-like energy coming from his paws. they aren't outright blue though, and its a darker, more subdued color. all in all, i see no shin...
