Yeah, that's the true purpose of the Sonic Universe. It's too bad Sega decided to implement a new mandate on the Sonic comics' storylines to include Sonic in all the issues, including the Sonic Universe series. And they will not allow Archie to put their original characters in it, whether it's Penders, Flynn's or any writers, past or present staffs of the company.

Let's be honest here, everyone. The Sonic games franchise' storyline are horrible compared to what Archie staffs are doing, but we could agree that Penders was the worst and probably the only irremovable stain in the riot of great comic book writers.

I think the reason why I still have faith in the games is because of the comics. Those are good story lines (usually), so obviously Sonic isn't completely lost. They're just aiming at the wrong demographic with the games. Lets face it, Sega hasn't produced a good Sonic game since 2001's Sonic Adventure 2 (I don't count Sonic Generation because it's a merging of all their games, not an original one). I even had a moment once when a comic book store where I get my Sonic comics during the "World's Unite" story but all of them were sold out, and I though to myself, "Wait, Sonic is still popular?"
We're approaching issue 300 fast, how is it that Archie can make a great story through a comic on a budget, but Sega spends millions on a game that is a total flop? Where is the sense in that?!

I had to admit it that Archie has been handling the storyline in their comics based on the canon Sega games pretty well so far. They had adapted Sonic Unleashed, Riders and of all spinoffs, Fighters which is one of the worst Sonic games ever made. And they even introduce new original characters in the new continuity, which somehow had gained much fanbase immediately after inception. But I really think it wouldn't be enough to replace the lost characters in a long shot.

And I agree with you about the game's story content. Piss poor scripts and insulting the viewers' intelligence. And that's not only goes to the Boom universe.

I TOTALLY GET THAT!!! Like with Sonic The Hedgehog 2006, I hated the whole game but especially Silver The Hedgehog. He was so annoying, there was no explanation to his powers, and let's face it: was somehow more gullible than Knuckles. But the comic not only explained his powers, but made him a cute and quirky character that learns from his mistakes. Also the game Sonic Rider, good concept but poor execution. I mean really, nothing is faster than Sonic but suddenly there's a hover board that can beat his speed with no real reason aside from the fact that it's "mystical" technology. And the levels were so simple that I beat the game in a day, and I was ten when I did that.

And I'm not going to lie, but when I saw the announcement for Sonic Boom, I almost put my fist through a wall. I love Sega, but they're destroying my childhood one horrible game at a time.

Unfortunately, Penders took back the Elias half of the team. Meanwhile, Sega mandates that here can only be one Metal Sonic (the pirate)! >

With the power of creator's rights, crossover distractions, Archie glamorization, and Penders' selfishness/poor art/poor writing, watch the two forces collide, as they rip apart all the awesome aspects of Flynn's writing in favor of depth-less throwaway filler such as Meropis, Eclipse, da Egg Bosses, and Relic's interaction with Knuckles! It feels so freakin' shoehorned!

Actually I like Relic, The Eclipse saga, and actually..I'm fine if they can't bring back the Characters (except Shard, bring him back NOW). The new characters aren't that bad, and now they can bring in new history with past game story's like Gemerl! Over all, I'm sure the heart and soul of the original comic will still be there. I even have my own head cannon that the Genesis wave created the new Boom universe. So I'm happy .

Even tough the comic has a small light nowadays, old world is still better. Plus tirning them to game stories does not make any sense. And boom... is SEGA's downfall.

Well since they had to retool everything, I just wish they would start over from scratch and make a new Sonic comic, where Sonic gets aquainted with the small animals, battles Eggman, goes through all six zones, rescues Tails in Sonic 2 8-bit, travels with Tails in Sonic 2 16-bit, collects 7 emeralds, boards the Death Egg and battles Silver Sonic, turns Super Sonic and battles the giant Egg Robot, meets Amy, races againt Metal Sonic, collects the time stones, escapes from the Egg Fortress with Mighty and Ray, has a run in with Knuckles, has a run-in with Fang, the entire S3&K/TT story, wears slow-down shoes, meanwhile Tails fights the Battle Bird Army, while Knuckles forms the Chaotix, saves some Flickies, and the rest is history.
