i sound like a complete idiot, but when you take these pictures are the lights in the room turned off and just use the flash?

no I actually do have some lights on , but they are not enough to effect the image.

Tiberius47 [2008-11-23 05:32:11 +0000 UTC]

Is that diagram a mirror image?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cosfrog In reply to Tiberius47 [2008-11-23 05:40:55 +0000 UTC]

not sure I understand the question, the diagram is the set up I used for the image to the right of it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tiberius47 In reply to cosfrog [2008-11-23 12:30:37 +0000 UTC]

I just meant that in the diagram the softbox you have on the right is further back from the model. This wouldn't give the light on the front of her baby bump the way it is in the photo. Also, the way the shoulders are in the diagram look like the model is facing left, when in the photo the model is facing right. I thought that maybe the angled softbox was the light giving the thin highlight on the model's back, and the diagram was mirrored somehow. Although that wouldn't explain how the writing is the right way around...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cosfrog In reply to Tiberius47 [2008-11-24 18:11:45 +0000 UTC]

Ya the diagram can be a little misleading. It is basicly vertical in front of the model, and not really 'behind her' but the front edge is even with the belly button.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tiberius47 In reply to cosfrog [2008-11-24 22:20:57 +0000 UTC]

Ah, so the angle is showing that the light is ABOVE the model, not behind her!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cosfrog In reply to Tiberius47 [2008-11-24 22:30:02 +0000 UTC]

ya, the light is more on her left side butnot so much behind. Wish they diagram had more choices for lights and box angles. Can be deceiving.

Thanks so much but ummm what settings and lens did you use on this one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cosfrog In reply to boxedphotos [2008-11-23 05:03:56 +0000 UTC]

ahhh maybe ill add that. This was F14, 100 iso and I think it was 1/200th

Lens was 24-70 at 45mm

I was wearing jeans and a black dickies button down shirt (with my log above left pocket) and I was bare foot.

boxedphotos In reply to cosfrog [2008-11-23 13:42:18 +0000 UTC]

LMAO Omg fucking what a 24 to 70 I borrowed my friends once and fell in love with it!.
So are you boxes strobes then... sorry for the questions.
I can't get over how high your settings where.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cosfrog In reply to boxedphotos [2008-11-23 15:04:42 +0000 UTC]

High, hmm dont think its to high, but it gets me the F14 for the sharper image all around. Yes softboxes with internal baffles for the softest lighting

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

boxedphotos In reply to cosfrog [2008-11-24 02:30:37 +0000 UTC]

I have never shot that high with my speed maybe my softboxes are not bright enough.
