Lol they all are in some way, but still cute nevertheless =3 Good thing I read the description, or I'd have thought these three images had led to each other ;3

Lol, I wouldn't have blamed you. That's definitely how it looks. I mean, hot damn. I wish.

Lol I don't know if these two species can breed, but maybe ;3 I go through that with my own aliens. The classic cute kids vs. ability to realistically make an interspecies baby argument x3

Definitely. I've thought about that too. It makes the most sense to me that, since Kala and Treta's species are so genetically different, they couldn't conceive a child.
Which would be sad for them, but not surprising. Family is important to them both, but they understood going into their relationship that there would be certain things they couldn't achieve the traditional way.
Whether or not they'll ever try to adopt, I'm not sure. But I can see them both being interested in it.

Yeah, the only real way that two genetically different species can breed is to successfully recombine their genes in an artificial manner, or recombine their genomes to become more similar to each other (I do that in a few of my manuscripts). Adopting would be the "most natural" alternative. But I can tell by the way Kala's touching him there that she wouldn't be opposed ;3

Same for humans, too lol. ;3
Ironically, my idea is somewhat similar to yours o.o
I approached it by having my humans be very adept at genetic engineering, to the point where they had already altered their own genomes to allow for all future humans to breed with each other, regardless of their environmental conditions. My aliens, on the other hand, did not have access to such technology, due to losing it when their home world was abandoned.
They were sick, largely due to a disease they'd once engineered that was meant to weed out aggression and prevent wars, but ended up indiscriminately killing whoever it infected. The survivors were thus living on borrowed time, and existed largely in stasis pods as others searched for a cure.
The aliens lived on ships, scavenging tech to keep themselves alive, until they discovered humans and realized that they had the technology to save them. But there was no time to ask nicely for it. The aliens tried to take it, and would've failed, had it not been for a human deciding to test out a re-combination on a badly injured alien. The result was successful, drastically altering the alien species, and later led to the ability for the two species to breed, but 3/4 embryos tend to die due to the remaining genetic incompatibility.

That's very interesting. What do the aliens look like?

They're a vulpine/canine-looking race. I don't have a unified look to them just yet, but these are the closest concepts so far

Thanks! I love it, too. The idea was that it's a cybernetic second skin, not unlike the powered armor my humans and Gears use, but more advanced. Still working on making them seem less "furry" to avoid confusion.

I totally get that! When designing my Anthro-esc alien characters I too try and give them elements that make them more alien and less furry.
