Description Well this weekend I went to Washington D.C. and we went to the anti-war protest which pretty much consumed all of Washington. There were hundreds of thousands of people there all trying to be heard. It was an amazing sight. I honestly went to just photograph the event, more so then to protest. It was fun and I took a lot of photos and met a few people along the way. Anyways...

This was a very strong moment. As I, and many others, watched this marine walked over towards the march everyone stopped and noticed him. I got chills just seeing him walk down here with an anti-war sign in his hand. He proceeded to the edge of the curb where there was a rope supporting the names and pictures of the soldiers who have died in the name of our country in this current war in Iraq. Everyone noticed him and everyone could feel the power he brought with each step he took. He looked down at the images hanging from a rope. You could see the sadness in his face as he bowed his head in honor of those he once served with. This moment just made me freeze and I lifted my camera to take a photograph of the moment but sadly it did not capture the moment as I saw it. I was too captivated by the guts it took this soldier to come to a protest like this in full uniform. It was an amazing sight, something that I will never forget. I just wish I had a better photograph to allow you all to see what I saw and feel it in the same way I did.

I know that this is an older piece, but I felt the need to comment on it nonetheless. As a former-Navy-sailor-now-peace-activist, I find this image incredibly haunting and beautiful. It really brings to light the internal conflict that rages when you question whether the things that you are doing are moral or immoral, honourable or disgraceful. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Excellent photo.
The people I admire most are the people who stand up for what they believe in, even when it's hard to do.
Definetly
