Thanks Hazel, I still have to learn how to use black paper, but then again, maybe I'll just use a toned canvas, it's much easier to work on.

You did such an amazing job on those pears, I don't see the need for learning with black paper. Although Derwent have new black paper out that takes 20 layers and claims to be pigment dyed...

CP's and paper are very limited here in my country, Only Mi-Tientes and Lana Colours are available and neither of them are acid free nor lightfast.

The darks and lights are balanced well. The reflection on the table really makes the viewer believe this is a photograph rather than colored pencil

Awesome work! Wonderful job on the colors and reflections. I have yet to conquer the black. One of these days I will have to tackle it again. Some good tutorials at wet canvas on using the black paper.

Black paper sure is a challenge, I think it's my waterloo. I've given up on using colored papers like Mi-Teintes. A black toned canvas gives a more suitable support for my style, colors are more brilliant than on paper.

Black paper gave me a hard time that I almost gave up, then I decided to use canvas paper and I'm really pleased with the result.

Thank you so much Kate. I've had several failed attempts with black Canson Mi-teintes and I almost gave up. I made one last try using Canson Figueras canvas paper and I'm so happy with the result.

Very nice, very simple colored pencil rendering. That is a great black, not flat, but glowing. Canvas was an unusual choice of paper, but it works here--it gives an impression of classic paintings.

Thank you very much, canvas is rather unconventional for colored pencils but I felt it suited my techniques more than the usual smooth surface, and I love the vivid colors I can achieve with primed supports.
