Very nice shot Bill.
I have a bit of mixed feelings about the limited DOF. It gives the shot a nice feel, and a sharp focus/concentration on the foreground element, which is the interesting and important bit, but in the thumbnail I assumed the DOF was greater and as such was slightly let down... As far as limited DOF work goes you executed this VERY well, nice work.

I did shoot one at f/11, but there was too much detail in the image, especially in the mussle shells, so it was quite distracting.

Definitely a polariser. Otherwise the sky would be a dull, dull element of the image.

Great color and texture. I like your use of depth of field. Reminds of that other pier shot you did. Infact this one could be the exact opposite world of that one. Cause that other one looks peaceful and serene and this one looks like it got ravaged!
