Description A pier, battered by years of hurricanes, lies tattered along the Florida coast.

EMERSON!!!!!!!!!

So great to hear from you. I stopped by your page just a few days ago, saw that it had truly been a few years since you'd had any activity, so I dropped you from my watch list. I'll fix that momentarily.

I don't spend much time around dA any more. But I do pop in to see how folks are doing and the fine art that they are submitting. I hope to see more from you as you see fit.

Best wishes for a safe, sane and prosperous 2009.

This is beautiful.

Love the wide-angle view given... How on earth do you take such gorgeous skies with composition included?

I'm jealous.

billsabub In reply to crimson-winter [2007-01-12 13:57:18 +0000 UTC]

The sky was pure luck, since we were only able to stop for a short time while driving through the area.

Otherwise, treat the sky just as seriously as the subject. I've got several things around here I want to shoot, but the sky's either dull overcast or featureless blue. Needs some interest to it.

Great photo! I like the DOF. Quite a change...
This is Nature's way of bringing us back to ground level. Did you use a polarizing filter?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

billsabub In reply to TwilightSage [2007-01-09 06:09:05 +0000 UTC]

Definitely a polarizer. Otherwise the sky would be bland.

Thank you!

SweetNightmaresDear [2007-01-08 03:14:27 +0000 UTC]

This is sad... It reminds me of a place in West Palm Beach that had these beautiful rock formations. Water would fly and froth up as waves crashed against them and their crests broke through the many holes. My family took me to see the formations one time when I was visiting, only to find they had been clogged with sand because of a hurricane. It's the same kind of thing, the simple tragedy of something worn and lost by nature's own hand. Not to say this isn't interesting to look at in its own way.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

billsabub In reply to SweetNightmaresDear [2007-01-09 06:06:56 +0000 UTC]

Don't be sad. It's just change. Especially down south, where another hurricane can come along and change it again.

Thank you for sharing.

The cool this about this shot, is that the angle and perspective makes all the other piers look so small, like they're miniature 'gates' (like in Japan, but I can't think of their names) Great shooting Tex. good to see you around here some.
