Description Still stuck on the colors that I used for the cuff, only this time it'll be a collar of sorts.

Wow! That pink just pops!!

And, is that felt you're working on (never done anything like this before, so overtly nosy)

Heyloooooo~! Lubberly as usual. I hope the holidays are going well. There's not enough time in a day for my tired self. So much to do before Christmas...! Ugh.

Where do you get your cabs like the center one anyways? Like I don't already have enough stones to work with. But you find awesome focal stones. <3

Hey, sweetie. My holidays aren't going that well, but we're alive I was actually given that cab, by a couple who are just getting into it. They stop in to the shop every couple of weeks and will be bringing in a few pieces to sell

Still, you always use neat ones. I'm totally jealous.

That was awesome of them.

Thanks I use Lacy's Stiff Stuff for the pale color collars and stiff felt from Hobby Lobby for the rest

I wish I had your vision to see those kinds of patterns. It looks stunning so far! You're a real inspiration. And is that black Lacy's you're working on?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bev-Choy In reply to Renilicious [2007-12-18 19:42:33 +0000 UTC]

Nope, it's stiff felt that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. They have it in a lot of different colors.. the only part I don't like about the stiff felt is the little fuzzies that have a tendency to work themselfs into the beading

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Renilicious In reply to Bev-Choy [2007-12-19 09:04:39 +0000 UTC]

Oooh, well, apparently you can dye Lacy's. Might be worth a shot? It's still beautiful. Can't wait to have a look at the finished product!

Bev-Choy In reply to Renilicious [2007-12-20 00:35:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I've heard you can also paint it... so I may try that out, too

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bev-Choy In reply to EssiesJewels [2007-12-18 19:44:27 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure what 'akig' is? The bead tray is called 'Bead Buddy' and I picked it up at my local beadshop for about $18. I've got 4 of them, all with different assortments in them for other projects

EssiesJewels In reply to Bev-Choy [2007-12-19 06:13:12 +0000 UTC]

Bev-Choy In reply to EssiesJewels [2007-12-20 00:39:00 +0000 UTC]

I looked at the name of the tray and it's actually 'Beaders Palette'... hope that helps

Adielle [2007-12-18 05:28:59 +0000 UTC]

Wow, thats beautiful so far! I have been trying to work on some beading myself, but I just can't get the hang of it. How do you get those beads so close together without having any tiny spaces? I never seem to get them close enough and I just can't keep my lines straight.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bev-Choy In reply to Adielle [2007-12-18 19:46:02 +0000 UTC]

I pick up 4 beads at a time (when covering long distances) and before pinning them down, I make sure that they lay flat where I want them and then insert the needle where the beads end... I'm not sure if that's a good description, but I'll try taking a shot for you.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Adielle In reply to Bev-Choy [2007-12-19 00:25:23 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much, hon. I think I got the idea. I always go for 1-2, thats probably part of the reason it gets out of order and spaced too far so fast.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bev-Choy In reply to Adielle [2007-12-19 05:32:24 +0000 UTC]

I'd recommend a book to you, it's all about bead embroidery and it's by Robin Atkins, 'One Bead at a Time'. It is a very inspirational book with fantastic information on the art

Threonine [2007-12-18 05:19:18 +0000 UTC]

pretty! I never got used to working on beadpoint. Mine always gets disfigured.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bev-Choy In reply to Threonine [2007-12-18 05:23:15 +0000 UTC]

If my tension is too tight, I tend to bend it all to hell I can't do bead crochet because my tension is way too tight.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Threonine In reply to Bev-Choy [2007-12-18 15:59:42 +0000 UTC]

Ah... the evil tradeoffs. Yeah... crochet is hard because you want the bead to be in place while having enough room to stitch. What I learned from beading is to be gentle while keeping the beads in place. But with beadpoint, that's kinda hard if you don't know where your needle's going to come from!
