Description Ibis

This was my first piece of bead-embroidery. It features some very nice pieces of turquoise and freshwater pearls. It is in my personal collection.

I learned a lot while doing the piece, some of which are things I did not repeat in later pieces. But it still seems to get a lot of attention when I wear it.

Okay, if I give you some basic "how-to's" would you try one? You don't have to do anything huge, just get some felt, beads, thread and a small piece of ultrasuede and you will have what you need to get going.

Thanks for taking the time to look around!

This was my first piece of bead embroidery. I have played around with stringing beads for a lot of years. Bead embroidery is definitely a different animal, though. It's pretty tedious, but you sure can be creative with it.

Beautiful, I love the turquoise!
I think first pieces don't have to be amazing or even detailed to learn a lot from them and even tho others might not like it you'll always adore it for what you learned from it.
All in all, this is amazing and it makes me want to give it a try. What do you use as the backer?

WilderRose In reply to immortaldesigns [2007-01-23 15:04:05 +0000 UTC]

I use Easy Felt, which is stiffened felt. About a dollar a sheet 11 x 14ish.

that is still rather nice!. i can see how its more simple then your other works. but its absolutally beatifull!

WilderRose In reply to EssiesJewels [2007-01-23 06:17:25 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

You can see the white backer between the beads in this shot. But when I wear it, it is not apparent, so it's not terribly bad. Now I know better and buy colors that "disappear" a little better 8]

I learn from every piece.
