Description I love this Amendment. In fact I love all of the amendments. However, I love this one because it allows us to own weapons that the government have. So I can buy a tank if I want and the government can't do anything about it. Because the 2nd amendment states that I can. Now I would love to own guns, for one reason only; To protect my family. Other than that, I wouldn't use guns for any other purpose. I might go hunting, but that depends.

But I support the 2nd amendment 100% and I hate gun bans. Because if everyone is armed and allowed to carry assult weapons around where ever they go, then people wouldn't go out and shoot other people. Because then they might get shot themselves. That's why gin bans DO NOT WORK! Because all they do is allow lawless people to do whatever they want. So that is why we can not allow gun bans.

Fun fact: The purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow the citizens to overthrow the government, something you would find abhorant.

I hear tell this came into power because, at the time, the colonists feared an attack from Britain, and would need guns for self-defense.  'Course, at this point, it seems guns havew become a big part of the US' culture.

As for gun bans, how would YOU keep guns out of the hands of people who'd use them for evil?  Here's what I believe.

Just because everyone in America CAN own a gun, doesn't mean everyone in America SHOULD own a gun.

Actually, the reason for this amendment is because the founding fathers knew that a government that feared the people would respect and listen to the people, therefore a free state is only possible if the government listens to, fears and respects the people it governs.  If you'll note, every dictatorship bans the people from owning firearms.  That said, I'm sure that the fears you mentioned had something to do with the decision to include this amendment.  If history was taught in history class, then our children would understand why this amendment is necessary.

Ok.  Well, I think I mistook gun bans for gun control.

I believe in that because it keeps guns out of the hands of those who would abuse them/use them for evil.

Some people think school shootings happen because Americans have the right to own guns.  Of course, if kids had better access to the kind of psychological help they NEED to not go and shoot up their school, that would go a long way too.

But, regardless, how did you feel about the thing I said at the end of my last comment.

"Just because everyone in America CAN own a gun, doesn't mean everyone in America SHOULD own a gun."

I'm a bit on the fence on that.  I realize that there are those, insane, out and out criminals, etc., that I wouldn't want to have a firearm but, the 2nd Amendment doesn't make such stipulations.  I wholeheartedly believe in my right to have a gun but, if we allow the government to put limitations on who can have guns, they will eventually make it so nobody can have a gun.  It's like this new assault on Freedom of Speech, Ban Hate Speech.  Who's going to decide what hate speech is?  The government?  We all know that the government's first priority isn't to protect the private citizen, it's to protect themselves.  Soon, with "hate speech" bans, they'll ban all forms of negative speech focused on them.  If we limit who can own a gun, soon, no one will be allowed to own a gun.

I'm pro 2nd amendment, obviously.

It seems as though many people are not so much "anti-gun" as they are anti-gun culture. I do own a couple of surprisingly nasty fast-reloading pistol-crossbows (target shooting), and if someone breaks into my house trust me at that range they are as lethal as any handgun the intruder may have. So no, I'm not anti-weapon.

But my question is this: at a soon-to-be-gone anti-politically correct website (that tells you something right there) was an article called "Conservatives are Losers."

Is that not true if looked at literally?

It basically pointed out that if one thinks of things as a "culture war" then name one front conservatives have NOT lost in. Antifa terrorizes college campuses; the media and Hollywood, well, do I have to say it? Look at just about everything. I was in the animal rights and environmental movement and what I see worries me because Liberalism is NOT about justice as it once may have been (the Civil Rights movement because blacks could still be kicked around just for being black- now we have things like BLM. For a wonderful moment in the 1970s it looked like we might actually have gotten it right, but as usual...). Heck, I want to punch Antifa.

Anyway, my point is: if guns really mattered how did we get to where we are now? Guns were great when Government and civilians had more or less the same level of weaponry (cannons were a bit awkward to lug around), but now a single attack aircraft can safely destroy an entire militia compound with one field nuke before any of that compound's guns would even begin to be worth anything- couple that with spy satellite technology and micro-robotics where spy 'bots can sneak under doors, and what combat-based chance do civilians really have, even if the normal military isn't involved but just small government enforcer squads of a sort of special ops?

Guns may be good for home defense against thugs, but anything else...no. Besides, we are being ruined in ways you CANNOT fight with guns: do you REALLY want to stand against what is happening? Reject mainstream garbage. Reject the consumer culture (to be fair I know a couple of liberals who feel the same way). If, during a prolonged power and water outage of even two weeks you can handle yourself and your household you're already doing better than most. Light, heat, water, food, basic medicine, that sort of thing- learn what you can do and you'll find it very satisfying that you can take care of yourself for even a few weeks.

A reason why I should listen to people dead for two centuries on a matter that has repeatedly led to the deaths of innocent people that could easily be prevented with even the most rudimentary controls on gun ownership/

Europe is letting so Called Refugees aka Jihad Military aged men to rape and murder whoever they want and those who defend themselves against them get arrested for something retarded like Hate Speech if you support Beto's Idea on Taking AR15s and AK47s and then along the road take Shotguns Rifles and Pistols as well and then like the UK Ban Knives to then you are the one who needs to look at every country who had the same ideas but ended up killing Millions after they got the guns from their Citizens

Captain-Freddy In reply to PastaManiac53 [2018-05-25 03:41:01 +0000 UTC]

Because Europe creates a system where there are real rules concerning weapons.
America does not, and there is a school shooting every week.

No the problem with the U.S. is the news glorifying the shooters by showing their faces, social media, the gun and the race of the shooter giving them attention. That leads to copycats. Ohh well yeah Europe has regulation lol. That's stupid because there's more terrorists attacks in Europe than the U.S. thanks to their immigration crisis. There's no Mass shootings every week. And gun regulations don't work and the majority of states that have gun control laws are the one ones who have mass shootings. Including there's more death by knife's than with guns.

The second amendment doesn't give you the right to own a gun rather it gives you the right to defend yourself from a tyrannical government. The United States has a bad record of big government that's why they wanted to have a freedom a life without government controlling you.. Something that is lost here in the U.S. and something that Europe is limited in because of their socialist ideals and that's why terrorist attacks Europe because the citizens are unarmed to defend themselves we don't want the U.S. to have a big government and people like you who want to take away from it. Oh yeah the majority of weapons in Europe come from the U.S. lol.

And America does have rules on guns that the government put and don't work. Europe nope they took them away.

Here's the video of how the Media is contributing on mass shootings. youtu.be/K3VQULyT390
