You know what I was thinking, It really shouldn't matter who Hiccup is with in fanart/fiction as long as it isn't some OC/Mary Sue/his dragon. I support sexiness, and art sexiness of Hiccup and his canon-material ladies :3

Not sure if you read *VinDeamer 's oneshot, but I'm sure any girl in Ruff's position would have been hard pressed not to do the same

I've read some of her one shots, but probably not the one you're referring to, if it's the most recent one.
THOUGH I do feel bad for the other three boys not seeming to get any love. Maybe Camicazi could help with that...but then again...seeing them at their obnoxious age like that, I can see why they aren't getting sexed-up except Fishlegs, a sweet enough boy who just suffers from un-aethetic viking syndrome

And I just realized I left a sentence unfinished--The most recent oneshot was Get the Hint, where Ruffnut tries to tell Hiccup she's pregnant. And he just happens to have his 'oblivious' goggles on pretty much the entire time.

Nah, the most recent one is, this was from Loosen Up, when Hiccup keeps Ruff from falling drunk out of her seat and all she registers is 'hands on hips--take advantage now!'
Yeah, those other boys have some potential in them, but since we followed Hiccup throughout the movie, we saw a deeper glimpse of the man he could someday become, while the other guys had a superficial introduction showing them as just...teenagers. And teenagers on their own are a pretty unflattering species. If httyd had followed Fishlegs, I'm sure we'd only view Hiccup as the accident prone nerd and not as a risk-taking (when push comes to shove) hero we know and love.
I'm having the boys get a little more love when they're older...but, sadly, I only ever seem to be in the mood to draw Hiccup

I think it's normal for artists and authors to be hard on themselves for their creations. I know I am with mine. Even the brochures and webpages I write for work, when I read them, I cringe.

It's better to be disappointed in ourselves that to have the disappointment of others. At least we know we're capable of doing better anytime we fall short of our own expectations.
