Description The idea behind this weird comic:

Garik and Roan are making naughty comments about other village delegates when their mother has to come over and teach them to mind their manners... especially as they are the future representatives of their village.

Hiccup disapproves as well, but he can't deny that they're funny. Men humor
Astrid then disciplines him for being an enabler.

Has anyone seen a 40-year-old Astrid around yet? Because I haven't. Perhaps no one has wanted to draw that full figure; she is a full Berk adult now, she's meant to fit in.

More for Hiccup to love people.

And she never loses her touch.

Garik and Roan are much like my closest sister and I: Two years apart, vastly different personalities but the same sense of humor, and when together will suddenly transform into a couple of ten-year-old boys.

Man, I could have so much fun with these two if I were a little more comfortable working with FCs.

I think that it's such a believable situation for so many reasons(boys being boys, mom being moms, Astrid's future in general...) is why it's so damn entertaining to look at. This is what Astrid signed up for when she married Hiccup. Boys with the confidence to express their snide opinions. Silly little brats.

I'm not a really big fan of the idea of Hiccup and Astrid getting married and having kids (honestly how many people marry their first girl/boyfriends?) but this is insanely adorable! I can soooooooooooo imagine Mom!Astrid doing that to her sons! XD

Personally, neither am I. From where the movie left off it certainly wasn't a comfortable feeling I had about their future and my 'One True Love' skepticism was one of the many reasons why I took so long forming a future for them as a couple (trying to stay canon after all).

Happily, this is from a storyline where they eventually break up post!movie and see other people before they end up back together again. It helped me work out some believability into their marriage. I'm glad that you find this adorable in spite of all your misgivings!

I agree with you. It took me a while to warm up to Astrid's character, and even now she's still the worst character in it (for me at least.) I just can't get around my head why Hiccup would find her attractive. To me, she's that type of girl I used to know in school who used to make me feel very threatened. Recently, I've come up with this OC named Heffer and I've decided she would be Hiccup's wife. I haven't come up with a personality for her yet, though. At the moment, she's just a name

To be honest, I think the relationship between Astrid and Snotlout is more believable. All that flirting Snotlout does is bound pay off sometime right? I can definitely see them getting together. Maybe not to the extend of getting married, but they should date at least for a little while!

Heffer That's a great name.

Astrid and Snotlout do fit together much better going by the movie (as in, ignoring the short). Had Hiccup not changed their way of life Astrid and Snotlout would have been the "power couple" of their generation. Love would have nothing to do it with, they would just be the two most exemplary vikings and back then image and status held far more merit in marriage than love. Astrid seems like the kind of girl who is ambitious enough to be happy getting by in a loveless marriage so long as she has some measure of power and influence.

I know. I felt so proud of myself when I came up with it XD That's what I love about the names in the movie. They're all so grotesque, horrible and disgusting and yet hilarious at the same time. Shame Astrid has such a Mary-Sueish name :/

Thinking about it, yeah. And even then, Snotlout doesn't LOVE Astrid, he's just some horny 13/14/15 year old who'd be willing to have sex with anything that remotely resembles a girl. Just like every other teenage boy on the planet XD Yay for loveless marriages!

Actually, that is something that was always annoying about her character. The name, compared to every other character in the movie, really does have that mary-sue vibe. They made it too obvious to make her attractive; her clothing, name, and even body manerisms were almost out-of-place with their femininity. Definitely didn't win her any points for character.

I think they put her in the movie just because of the fact that she is a girl. A Smurfette. The love interest. Something to bring in the female demographic. Like the dragons, fire and explosions and action scenes wouldn't do that *sarcasm* Don't they know THAT'S what young girls like movies? Awesome explosions and mythical reptilian creatures? OK, that's what I like about movies with dragons, but still...

It totally works! Especially if they are sitting in your chair or something. Just grab the hair(it hurts more for short haired guys) and tug upwards. Works every time

Fanks D It's basically eye setting and mouth/pupil/nose position I need guidance for when I'm doing crazy angles. But no references were used with the first two panels or Astrid so all this face-guidance-ref technique stuff is slowly but surely helping me illustrate faces.
