Nice to hear it. I'm going to make later similar mace also for my own use, but then i probably use a little bit thicker plate for the flanges.

Slavic people have also guite interesting mace designs. [link]

If i get tools for proper bronze castings i maybe try to make something like that, but just now i can cast only jewelry size objects.

Thanks for the fave. I made another set in last spring and it have also one extra axe with loosened blade. [link]

The juggler wanted to thrill the audience more and when he start throwing the weapons, axe blade fell off "accidently" and when he pick it from the floor he secretly change it to the other axe with rigid blade and when he continue to throw them a little bit later, people probably started to think that the loose blade is going to fall again and maybe hit them.
Perhaps it give's the act more drama or something..

It maybe looks like that, because put only the best ones here.

I don't usually even take photographs from my more normal/simpler commissions or personal projects..

I know that, but there is not very good variety of exotic woods in this part of Finland.
My place is located to quite small countryside town..

I also like that clean/simple line of the machete and going to make later one bigger version to my own use.

do you made them with balance point at the same height? (approximately)

anyways, thatΒ΄s a great machete

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Astalo In reply to MaJinRo [2010-06-24 23:31:03 +0000 UTC]

It was too difficult because the structure of the machete is so different than those other two. (Axe & mace are quite identical, but more top heavy than machete.)

Not probably very big problem, because Janne handles them quite well, when he was testing the set in my yard..

Very nice, I like the variety of weapons on show, not just copies of a single one. Would look far more impressive while juggling.

Astalo In reply to boySpud [2010-06-23 08:54:20 +0000 UTC]

Yes that was the idea. I have seen machetes or that kind of axes in some shows, but never in just the same act. Also that medieval style flanged mace is probably quite unique sight in the juggling circles. (Thanks for faving them..)

I take it they are blunt?
If not, ouch... ^_^

Astalo In reply to Isentosamballerer [2010-06-22 19:48:10 +0000 UTC]

Yes of course and also not weight so much than authentic medieval things.
(I just weld together different pieces of 3 mm thick steel plates etc.)

Whats the fun in juggling blunt weapons?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Astalo In reply to angusman219 [2010-06-29 21:45:17 +0000 UTC]

Fun and thrill are not always the same thing.

Customer really wants them like that and at least those things look quite menacing/sharp compared with more common juggling knives etc. [link]
