Did you split and drift the eye? I've been thinking about full-size double bits like the Gransfors Bruks one, but I'm not sure if I should make the eye by welding two pieces together or splitting the eye and forging down. Any thoughts?

That eye is punched out and then strectched bit. I think that it does not matter too much do you split the eye or forge weld from two pieces, both styles work well, so make it just how it feels better. (or maybe you have already done it, as my response is so late...) Welding is maybe bit easier way when doing thin blade.

Very nice head! Looks to be about 100mm across the cutting faces, relative to the handle width? I like the size.

Ehkä joskus, muttei minua varsinaisesti heittokirveet kovinkaan paljoa kiinnosta. Tuo oli tilaustyö niin tuli tehtyä.
Taitaa franciscojen pääasiallinen käyttöaika olla merovingiajalla, vaikkakin joitain viikinkiajan alkupuolelle ajoitettuja löytöjä ehkä onkin.
Taidan heittoaseiden osalta pysytellä lähinnä jousessa ja suomalaisissa angoissa, pitäiskin jatkaa jälkimmäisten testailua joskus.

Thanks.
I dont think so. Viking age and all kind of fantasy weapons, armours etc. should not be mixed. Thats only my own opinion ofcourse.

Would I be right in saying it has a laminated edge? It looks like it.

it has. carbon steel goes about 4-5cm inside the edges.
