Dina- Excellent work in your new medium! How does the time spent compare to your graphite drawing? Your daughter looks radiant! How does she like this and will your son be next?

Thanks Michelle! I'm loving how fast I could do a piece. Only hours compared to days and months for my bigger graphite pieces. Both my kids like this piece, and so far, no request from my boy yet. I may decide to do a car for him, but I don't think I can handle that kind of drawing yet. It's just an unforgiving subject....
As far as the hands go, I may tweak with it a little, maybe even fade them out, if possible. I just wanted to focus on the face...

favorite part: the teeth
they look just like the teeth of a little kid
not bleached, just a healthy white
also, the back lit affect is awesome

Thanks! I think I like her teeth too! I initially thought it would be devastatingly hard to do, but surprisingly, pastel is a very forgiving medium.

On a whole unrelated topic, I now watch the History Channel a lot. Especially when The Universe is on, or about How the Earth Was Made. It's one of the best channels, I think!

Though they are becoming a little like the SciFi Channel with some their shows.

They're kinda like the sci fi channel sometimes-- esp when they're talking about the end of the world or Mega Disasters, etc. I just don't watch their Monster Quest. It's just crap.

Yeah, they have dumbed it down quite a bit within the last few years.
Sometimes they get carried away with thier programs about the Bible as well.
I sat and watched a whole 3 hour program specials once and I saw it previously but broken down into a series type program, you know like once a week the show would be about different subject of the Bible. Well they ran back to back in a marathon. Afterwards I was a little put off to see it that way, I never noticed when watching it one at a time how propogandaish it was.
Low and behold when they gave the credits it was sponsored by a Jewish religious group.
Yep....even the History Channel does it.

Most shows have some sorta propaganda attached to it.
Even PBS.
Once I saw something about the problems in the daily lives of Palestinians, it was wholly sponsored by some Muslim group in the US. And, of course, a religious Jewish group sponsored a show about some exposed vigilante work against some Muslim assassins who shot their Jewish leader.
They're all forcing us to take sides.

Thanks Henrik! I believe I will go on with pastels and get to know it better. I'm learning to work with colors. Once I'm comfy with colors, I'll move on to oils.
I'm glad you notice the difference in my strokes. I also think I will keep that style so there's more focus...
