My grandmother done in graphite.Bristol 9" x 12"
3B, 4B, 6B pencils
2B mechanical pencil
Blending stump
20 hours or so.
It's not quite exactly like the photo because I messed up on the proportions initially, maybe I'll try better next time. I've included the reference photo as well as works-in-progress in Scraps.

This is a wonderful portrait full of character and personality. Wonderful detail. I think some of the shadows could be a wee bit darker to punch it up a wee bit but other than that excellent job on the shading.

Thank you Carol! You are right about the shadows that need to be darker. I found it slightly tough to transfer the drawing onto my computer and the only way was to photograph it in direct sunlight. That might've taken away some of the darkness. I will still work on getting my shadows darker... Appreciate your kind comments!

Thanks, I think it's relatively easier to draw an older person! When I messed up on some pencil marks, I made it more pronounced and made it into another age spot.. Hehe. I didn't post many works in progress for this drawing, unfortunately. But you can definitely see the scale of the drawing compared to the reference photo.

Thanks Erin for your kind comments! The glasses were quite hard to do due to the proportions, but I'm happy how it turned out! I tried my best to draw as many details as I can compared to the previous drawings. I'm glad that you noticed them!

Thanks dT! Btw, I went to the Cherry Creek Art Festival today and saw that the Tattered Cover is still there. We didn't get a chance to go to that French restaurant, unfortunately. The festival was just great! A lot of different kinds of mediums to make even the most critical art appreciator go wow... Print sale were not allowed, just originals, though, so we ended up getting 2 festival posters signed by featured artists as tokens. Didn't want to part with $3800 today on that painting that I liked... Maybe I'll post some interesting shots. Right now I'm waaay to poufed out to even open my eyes... Gotta get my 30 winks! Here I go!
