Description
There is my biggest and most challenging ballpoint pen art project I've planed to do so far.My intention is to draw with my ballpoint pens a composition of not 1 or 8 or 15 portraits ... but 23 ! 23 portraits of my son on the same A1 size picture to retrace his first year from his birth.
23rd step : OK, I decided to spend my week-ends evening to finish this project that is in progress since a bit to long.

I didn't realize how long I've been watching the process of this drawing. I'm just now looking at the date for when you posted this. May 26th 2012! It's been nearly a full two years! Wow.

Absolutely brilliant!!! I wonder where you take all your time from ... I didn't find enough freetime to make more than 1 painting in nearly 2 years since my daughter was born.

Thanks. I have a son that does to bed at 8pm . It give me around 2 hours a day during evening to draw personal stuff and commissions

I absolutely love seeing the step by step progress of this piece. Each addition adds a new level of dedication to this project.
My favourite of the portraits is the one to the right of the one in the bottom left corner of your son with a pacifier in a little bed robe. His sleepy face is just adorable!
Can't wait to see more steps as you build your way to the finale!

That's a massive drawing, I only have drawn with ballpoint on A5 size and it takes forever!
A project like this on A1 paper is beyond impressive! Do you have any idea of how many hours you spent so far?
I'm looking forward to see the final version.

That's a lot of time already, but the subject helps keeping the motivation levels up.

Yes, and the fact that it's not one image like my Mona Lisa [link] but multiple portraits helps to keep going. It's all new all the time until it's finished

It's more like a step by step and with each small step you see a result, that helps. I already had seen your Mona Lisa but didn't know it was A1 size, this must be the kind of drawing your never see the end coming...

Thanks. I was surprised as well when I finished to count and find out that it took me "only" 96 hours for the Mona Lisa. And yes, see a bit of finished result helps to carry on the next step

Practice makes perfect and I guess with all your experience, you now can draw pretty fast.

I've only ever sketched in pen. But I've always wondered when you're doing something like this. Do you just use whiteout when you mess up? Or something else?

I use white figurines acrylic with a fine brush to erase blobs

One day this will be one of the greatest drawings in ballpoint ever! What a massive achievement. Impossible for the simpler minds. Amazing! Truly genius work.
