I debated about putting this into storage but I left it up. But I am not fond of this one.

I like it a lot!! .. but since you would like a critique.... i think if you want it to look more realistic mosh and the pedistal (the stuff in the foreground) should have a drop shadow or something that way it would look like she is really standing on the lawn. Other than that... Nice work!

thanks, a hard shadow i think would have looked really bad seeing the picture has no hard light in it, it's self. MJ's original stock image didn't have much of any either cause he normally uses pretty omni directional lighting as well.

what i did have an issue with, and something i do to most every model is, softening the edges of the shot of mosh, and i think if i would have been able to do that successfully that would have given you the shadow effect your looking for. like i said i will admit her edges look too sharp, i also still have the psd file for this work, and at an later date might go back and fix this problem once i can figure out a work around for it.

thank you again for the well thought out comment, i always like getting those. they are always much more useful than 'wow this looks great' and are way more enjoyable to respond back too. and thanks again for taking the time to comment and look threw my work.

The model almost looks like stone as well, I like that effect, especially as she is situated as if on display

yea i wanted that more modern old feel to it (realized that sounds rather odd), wanted to break out of my box a little bit and explore. this one took allot more trial and error than i am normally a custom to, but it also turned out being one of the pieces i am most impressed with that i have done within the year. glad you like it and thank you for taking interest into my work.

Yes, it's always fun and challending to enter and conquer new horizons with art. I've used to be mostly a manipulator earlier but I'm more and more getting into 3D, finding myself liking the quite different challenges and opportunities within. And then blending the two teqniques is always fun.

AnthonyShea In reply to pendlestock [2008-11-14 15:56:51 +0000 UTC]

thank you, i try but more often than not i just feel like I'm rather stagnate in the growth respect.

pendlestock In reply to AnthonyShea [2008-11-14 16:28:04 +0000 UTC]

Well I see a growth in skill in this one. I think when you feel stagnant do something completely insane. I did - I threw paint everywhere and created some of my favourite work to date and the flatness problem? Eliminated!

Seriously, just play

i think the other part of my problem is i finish one and would just start another shortly after, since my computer got 'un sick' i have been letting myself get distracted with call of duty 4, and work on a single piece over days instead of just 10 hours straight. and i am liking the results better
