Description This is a moose sculpture I made, by request of one of my dads coworkers. He wanted something smallish that could go on a desk, and it was an opportunity to design a nice looking sculpture that wasn't recycled materials, and wasn't a fully enclosed design, and yet was made of relatively few parts and with a simple, yet elegant structure.

I must say, it turned out rather well, especially considering that I didn't use any reference materials. I just went to my shop and started drawing patterns on the steel and just ran with it.

The moose is crafted from 18 gauge sheet metal. The base is much thicker and crafted from assorted scraps, which I modified slightly to give the impression of water, or marshy ground. I didn't want it to have a solid base, hence the segments. I then used some wire to create grassy plants.

Once finished, I used a Golden Rust Patina for the color. I left the base metal as-is. I then sealed it with a satin clear coat to protect the color and give it a bit of shine.

The moose is roughly 8in long, and about 8in tall. Really good looking sculpture for the house or office.

FOR SALE!!

I would be happy to craft one of these if you're interested in buying one.

This piece reminds me so much of north Colorado. They have a thing for moose motifs. I love moose but they're really scary in real life.
