Dogwood huh? theres a very ironic flowor... very sad tale to it... it is said christs cross was made of dogwood, which used to be the tallest tree in the forest... then afterwards, its became scrawny and twisted in shame, baring four drops of blood and a crown of thorns. It always mourns christs death, but tries to remind people of what happened and to remember.

I hadn't heard that version of the story-- the version I had been told was that Christ, in his infinate kindness, felt the sorrow of the Dogwood's burden, and caused it to grow small and twisted, so that it's wood could never be used for such a purpose again. So that people would remember, the blossoms were grown in the sign of the cross, with the crown of thorns at the center and the 'blood' at each petal.
Even with this story, it is still one of my favourite trees, and I miss them.

I'm absolutely loving the little lives that you're giving to these birds of yours, L-chan! And the colours in this picture are beautiful... soft, yet striking!
