I love Glorfindel and his horse. And the moment I saw this painting by yuumei yuumei.deviantart.com/art/Conn… I knew I wanted to attempt to draw the two of them in that pose and with that gorgeous backlighting and palette.Done in MyPaint w32 1.2 with Wacom Intuos tablet. [Note: shortly after this, MyPaint 1.2 stopped cooperating with my laptop, and I uninstalled it and went back to MyPaint 1.0]

Oh, the feelings!!! I've missed your pictures... It's so simple and yet so touchingly beautiful... In fact, this made me wondering: how long could Asfaloth live? Was he normal horse or was he from Valinor? Because if he was "just" a regular horse, this picture is also really sad...

Tolkien never said much about elf-horses I think... I headcanon that they were immortal (like Huan), but quite a number of fanfic writers have written them as having regular horsey lifespans. I don't like that. My headcanon of Asfaloth is that he is immortal, and came to Middle Earth with Glorfindel when he was sent back here by the Valar in the Second Age, and would have returned with him to Valinor after the Third Age.

Heh, I think I should have made Asfaloth's head a bit bigger actually! And yup maybe the head is a little long - I used this picture as my pose reference and you're right, I didn't quite get the proportions correct - www.zazzle.es/poster_del_perfi…

It is absolutly amazing and I am not (only) saying this because Glorfindel is one of my favourites^^^
It is wonderful how you worked with the light here, and it's great that you kept the details in clothing to a minimum here, so nothing takes away the focus from the two.
