Designer Notes: Formerly known as the 'Prototype Genesis Gundam'. Been ages since I drew this badboy. This guy has been sitting in my book, I believe, for about... oh... three years, perhaps? Never got the motivation to finish him, then one day I look through my book and I see him staring back at me. o.o Thus, I decided to finally complete his redesign, and this is the result. Other than adding a tad more weight to him, plus the fact he looks rather top heavy (though still proportionately better than my previous attempts), he is essentially the same Gundam as before; a 'fatty' in a generation of smaller, lightweight mobile suits with basic weapons that make it seem straightforward. Then along comes a pilot with no name, and suddenly the MS doesn't seem so straightforward no more. How, that has yet to be revealed (or I just have no idea at all). o.O

Here's the previous design:

It's a rare find to see Gundam Art in my sections of dA, I like this piece very much, it's well drawn and really fits with the gundam feel.

Thanks. It was a labor of love that was waiting to be finished. From where I come from, Gundam art is fairly easy to find. If I'm looking for more obscure names, however... well, depending on the title, you'd be lucky to find even a handful.

Yeah, I guess so, and there aren't that many people who design gundam OC's anymore, maybe it's because the anime isn't as popular as it used to be, or maybe it's because people aren't buying the toys anymore.

It's hard to find them though! I mean it really is.

With Gundam OCs... yeah, that is true, it's a little more difficult to find amidst the plethora of Wing Gundams and 00 Gundams and SEED Gundams and UC era Gundams and anything else in between. And, yeah, truth be told, the height of popularity in North America was Wing. There have been some real nice original designs I've come across over the years, though I can't remember where they are for the life of me.

yeah, I'm currently watching SEED and plan on watching SEED Destiny afterwords.

They were both good dubbed, even if they were illegally used by YTV

Ah yes, YTV, and the removal of the silhouette jiggle. Considering how hilarious it was seeing it in the intros, that point of censorship was a good thing. Not playing some of the other intros, however, not so good.

Well, I'll be sticking with Unicorn. Even if it's a long wait for new episodes.

I might start watching it.

YTV actually never payed the company or Bandai for use of the anime, it's what they've done with all the anime they play, they don't have the legal rights to use it or play it.

And suddenly YTV is my hero in an odd way. o.o

If nothing else, Unicorn animated looks very pretty, and the plot is fairly decent if not just another ode to UC Gundam series.

Yeah, well if it weren't for them I never would have gotten into bleach and I probably never would have even seen half of the anime I'm a fan of.

So in a way, their doucebag ways weren't terrible.

Aside from the huge shoulders, he doesn't look that bulky to me.

AegisKHAOS In reply to dracostarcloud [2011-02-26 18:29:55 +0000 UTC]

Yes, other than the broad shoulders, he is not that bulky, though the head and shoulders with relatively shorter legs compared to typical MS designs does make him top heavy. Also, when I say I added a tad more weight, I mean in terms of his stats: I originally had him at about 20 tonnes, then decided to add six more. Plus, he's a 'fatty' in terms of size compared to the previous MS within said universe who are pretty much F-91 size. It's an in-universe term I made up.

So calling an MS 'fatty' means it's not a tiny F91-sized MS?

Within the context of the story I had long dropped, yes.
