Technical and Historical Notes:
Originally developed as a high performance close-combat Ritter for pilots that found the Siegfried limiting, the Heimdall has become one of the most infamous Ritters ever fielded by the Jotuns. Although on paper it seems little more than a dressed up Siegfried (as the Heimdall was developed from the Siegfried's design), the Heimdall is worlds apart from that unit. Thanks to improved mechanics, denser armor, larger rocket thrusters and a more powerful battery, the Heimdall is both an extremely fast and nimble Ritter as well as tough enough to weather almost any attack against it. In fact the designers intended for the Heimdall to be capable of charging headlong into melees at break neck speeds while absorbing attacks, much like the ancient Berserker warriors that thrived on Midgard long ago. For armaments, it's equipped with the Siegfried's basic weapons, aside from replacing the right grenade rack with hip mounted rocket pod fins for additional mobility. To fit its role as a close combat machine however, the Heimdall was given two new additions: a massive buster sword and two palm mounted lightning wires. The buster sword, which is so large that most Ritters would be incapable of wielding it, was designed specifically for the Heimdall's strength (it can even use it one handed) and is perhaps the most powerful melee weapon ever developed; over the years it has become the Heimdall's trademark weapon that many a Ritter pilot has grown to dread. The lightning wires are newer weapons: they're rocket propelled wires that upon latching onto another object will then generate a surge of electricity, which could be set to either electrically disable the other unit or overload its powerplant and destroy it. As well as these weapons, the Heimdall is capable of wielding all the hand-held weapons that the Siegfried could use, although most Heimdall pilots prefer to stick to the Heimdall's close combat function and eschew these for the buster sword. Perhaps the Heimdall's only fault is that it is an extremely expensive machine to produce, so much that the Jotuns reserve them only for the best pilots in their ranks. One particular unit, which is painted in a custom black color scheme, is used by 1st Lieutenant Rachel Lowenhardt of the 17th Autonomous Corps, better known as the Black Goddess.
Pilot(s): Rachel Lowenhardt

Even with the mistakes, I do like how this picture turned out compared to the Siegfried.

Nicely done, particularly with the head. You're also starting to understand the different types of shading in order to give a brushed metallic appearance (as opposed to the usual matte look). Design-wise, I will suggest that you add more spacing (and if necessary, additional parts) around your joints to allow for proper movement; this is particularly true for the shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles.

Oh good. Because I doubt I'll remember that the next time I draw something. Additional parts, not for this design, but I definitely agree with added space.

Thanks for the feedback. In spite of the number of pics I've drawn, I don't like drawing mechs unless I'm really, really, REALLY inspired.

I like the design!
Also, WHERE HAVE YA BEEN, LADDEH?!

Anyway, good work! I like how it sorta resembles an old-school soldier. 83

Where have I been you ask? Oh... you know... banging my head over real life. Was aiming for a ww2 soldier feel given the setting and all. Glad you like it, too. ^^

Ahhhh. :3 That explains it.

And sweet! But yeah, it's not something I've seen before, and it's quite unique. :"D

Yeah! The only thing that even comes close to its design is Tallgeese, but even then, this looks like a mech that is built entirely around homaging old-school soldier garb. It's really neat. C:

So you noticed. I tend to use Tallgeese for reference quite a fair bit, especially number 3.
