Description As the hunt for Maxwell Lord continues, a fresh clone of the creature that once put Superman in the ground is unleashed, its target... Captain Atom. Can the additional might of Powergirl help against the hulking brute, or is its raw strength too much even for two of Earths most powerful beings to contest ?.

Loosely inspired by one of the recent DC covers depicting Superman and Wonder Woman battling the beast.

Thanks.

The JLA at the time could have used their help during the initial Death of Superman ark at the time. Honestly I wish DC would just retire this guy, he served his purpose in the 90s, after seeing that event with New Krypton I believe babblingsaboutdccomics3.wordpr… , with all the new Kryptonians ganging up on, sending him to the moon and curb stomp him, he lost all effect as a threat.
Great job though

I agree, and the beating by the New Kryptonians did deflate the threat of the creature, much like when two versions of Superman took it down in Infinite Crisis, but DC kept bringing the creature back.

I think the creature has been overused in the Superman comics to the point that characters like Livewire, Rampage, Skyhook, Hellgrammite, Silver Banshee, and various others have been sidelined. There was no reason to wheel out the brute in the New DCU when they could have reintroduced all those other characters first.

Thanks

Actually , the Doomsday in the initial and Hunter/Prey is the Original weapon. Whatever appeared later are toned down ersatzes...
Though I dig its role in the Injustice game.

DC actually had Doomsday plucked from the end of time ( as seen in Hunter/Prey ) by Brainiac in the 'Superman Doomsday Wars' story, it's been the same creature popping up ( other than when its been stated to be a clone, like Darksieds watered down Doomsday horde ).

I agree with you on this.Doomday is way way way over used. But I know of a way their could get rid of him for good.Send into a super massive black hole.He go in but will not check out ever!!That is if dc did it right.

What I mean is that I do not consider the latter versions to be as great or effective as the Jurgens' original (though I have a soft spot for his JL cartoon appearance and Cornell's Doomslayer was rather fun). As for Infinite Crisis or the New Krypton stuff , I always saw as hackery; they want to use it ? Fine. But it has to be done with a respect for it nigh-eldritch monstrosity. It showcases that Kryptonian are people and as a result have reasons to fear their own science...
With that said, neat drawing, Karen and Nathaniel are in for one drastic fight !

Too often he just gets wheeled out to hit things, i actually liked it when he briefly developed an intellect ( the JL cartoon one was cool ).

Thanks
