Description Here we have Shinobi X's main heroine Delilah in her Part 2 outfit. Similar to how Kyo Kusanagi finally trades in his school uniform for the more styish white jacket and pants in KoF '99, Delilah trades in her tactical Kunoichi outfit for something more comfortable. This change also symbolizes Delilah's personal growth and coping with her mother's death and putting Neo Egypt and Ziz behind her. That's why she sports a saucy little wink here. She still really hates her rival Lizbeth though.

If you're scratching your head going: "Duh-huh? What's up with the Belly Dancer/Desert Fighter outfit? I thought she was a Japanese Ninja?!" keep reading. I'm about to drop some knowledge on you about my girl Delilah here.

As I mentioned before, though Ninjutsu and the Ninja Way have become a main part in Delilah's life as of late, she's not all about Martial Arts and Training like your usual Ninja character. For one, she has a deep-vested love and interest in the Middle East and its various cultures and peoples. In particular she is interested in Arab Culture.

Beleive it or not, Delilah has had a connection to the Middle East since she was born. Not by blood, of course, but her name. The name "Delilah" is of Biblical origin. The Biblical figure of Delilah is...less than heroic than this one to put it mildly. She was a Philistine who tricked the Isrealite Judge Samson into revealing his secret--his hair--and later betrayed him. Delilah's mother, Mieko , had converted to Christianity by the time Delilah was born and wanted to give her a Biblical name but one that was unique. Of course, why she'd name her daughter after a villain of the Bible is unknown. Delilah herself tried to ask but never got a straight answer.

However, Delilah's true fixation began when she was a little girl in the early 90's and her mother, bought her the VHS of Disney's Aladdin. Of course, the movie itself was exciting for her but what proved to be more influencing was the setting. After watching the movie Delilah took to researching real life Arabia. While a far cry from Disney's happy-go-lucky Aladdin's Arabia, a spark was ignited in Delilah's heart that day. The following Halloween she talked her father into getting her a Princess Jasmine costume; something her more conservative mother frowned upon but she allowed her to wear nonetheless.

Delilah has since graduated to a real-life Arabian-inspired costume, the one you see above you. Her top is based around real-life Belly Dancing attire. Usually when you think of Belly Dancers you think of Bras but, believe it or not, there are other types of Belly Dancer outfits such as Halter Tops, which is what inspired Delilah's outfit. The gold bling are coins and medallions and the colored jewels are actual jewels. The bracelets, belt, see-through sleeves and dress are also inspired by real-life Belly Dancing outfits. However, because she's also a highly-mobile warrior, I gave her pants so that she can move easily. All-in-all she's less Ninja this go-round and more of a Desert Fighter or Thief, both of which are usually portrayed as Arabian-style Ninjas.

If you're wondering, yes, Delilah is an actual Belly Dancer, meaning the design has merit characterization-wise. She works at Sahar Sadeghi s restaurant/nightclub, Dawn Oasis, where she is a bit of a celebrity. Her particular style is Egyptian Belly Dancing, that she learned from Zahra Nosair , the ex-wife of Pharanic and mother of Osiris and Bastet, all Neo Egypt members and antagonists of Part 1. In fact, Zahra and Mieko, Delilah's mother, were good friends, which is how Delilah met Zahra. Zahra, in turn, told Anubis about her, earning Delilah and her family thier invites to the BoA tournament.

...Yep, you read that right. All the Main Players of Part 1 are connected. If you were wondering what a Japanese-American Ninja has to do with Egyptian Gods (real and wannabe) there you go. Of course, Delilah also has a connection to Ziz but I won't give that away right now. I will debunk one thing: Ziz was NOT (I repeat NOT!!) sealed by a member of Delilah's family (either side).

On topic, Delilah speaks fluent Arabic in addition to English and Japanese. She hopes to put her Arabic to good use by visiting Egypt and Saudi Arabia someday.

As much as she likes this outfit, her man Antonio likes it more. That's right, Delilah and Antonio are currently dating, which happens, story-wise, after the two first meet at the beginning of Part 1. Thier relationship actually comes from a real place as Delilah was designed after my girlfriend IRL who is, believe it or not, also named Delilah. And, yes, she really looks like that, lol.

Of course, as a Ninja she has has Masked Version, which you can find HERE

For her original design and backstory HERE

I really enjoyed putting this together and I hope you do too!

Oh, and if you're wondering why this picture looks a little different than the ones before it was made a good while back, before Adobe went away and HeroMachine temporarily went offline.

NOTE: HeroMachine was merely the vehicle for my character's creation. All characters I post are thought up, created and belong to ME.
